COLETRANE
WALKERTOWN -- Mrs. Lurline Annie Akridge Coletrane, 93, of 4130 Pine Hall Road, Walkertown, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at her residence. She was a native of Macon, Ga., born on June 8, 1906, and moved to the Walkertown area at an early age. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and other auxilliaries, and served faithfully until her health failed. She was also a member of the Eastern Star-Rosa McCloud Chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie S. Coletrane and a daughter, Clarice Fulp. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Plushie Moore of Gary, Ind. and Cora (Chuck) Jones of Washington State; an adopted Church daughter, Alberta Teal of Waltertown; devoted granddaughter and great-grandchildren, Ruby Gray, Walter Dixon, and Karen Floyd; grandson, Sanford Coletrane; sister, Ellen A. King of Walnut Cove; a brother, Will Akridge of Baltimore, Md.; a devoted niece, Ellen M. Givens of Winston-Salem; devoted friends, the Lowery family; and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, September 27, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. from the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Walkertown, N.C. with Reverend I.L. Anthony officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Walkertown, N.C. The family visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the church. (RUSSELL)
CRADDOCK
GERMANTON -- Mrs. Nancy Pearl Williams Craddock, 56, died at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem on Friday evening, September 24, 1999, following a brief period of declining health. A native of Forsyth County, she was born October 5, 1942 to Vernie Hubert and Minnie Chandler Williams. Ms. Craddock was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Donna Lee Craddock in 1972; and one son, David Eugene Craddock in 1997. She is survived by two sons, Curtis Dale Craddock and wife, Missy of King and Daryl Ray Craddock and fiancee', Lisa R. Tuttle of King; one sister, Patricia Williams Brown of Germanton, four brothers, Vernie Frank Williams of King, Ray Junior Williams of Mountain View, Archie Joseph Williams of Tobaccoville, and Harry Truman Williams of Germanton; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 1999 in the Corinth Church of Christ Cemetery on Friendship Rd. (Germanton), with Rev. George Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Rural Hall Chapel.
FOSTER
MOCKSVILLE -- Mrs. Ruth McDaniel Foster, 85, of Milling Rd., passed away Saturday, September 25, 1999 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Foster was born October 21, 1913 in Davie County to the late George Bonus and Iva Cornatzer Foster. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Vickie Foster and Connie Foster King; six brothers, Cecil McDaniel, Bill McDaniel, Everett McDaniel, Bruce McDaniel, Troy McDaniel, and Pete McDaniel; and one sister, Lucille Smith. She is survived by her husband Thurman Foster of 64 years; one brother, Bob McDaniel of Mocksville; one sister, Hazel M. Gobble of Fork, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Foster was a member of Dulin United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was very involved in her church. During her lifetime, she was a homemaker, who loved cooking and working in her garden. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 27, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Dulin United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Offerll and Rev. Robert McLawhorn officiating. The body will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. HEAD
MOUNT AIRY -- Mr. William C. (Bill) Head, 79, of 511 Penn Street, Mount Airy, husband of Verlie Gates Head, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 1999 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Head was born in Stokes County on October 18, 1919. He was the son of the late Luther and Frances Tuttle Head. Mr. Head was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Trustee. Survivors include his wife, Verlie Gates Head of the home, a son-in-law, Earl Sellers of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Lanae Latza of Mount Airy; a grandson, Brian Sellers of Mount Airy; a great-granddaughter, Ericca Latza of Mount Airy; a niece, Linda Fore of Mount Airy; and a nephew, Paul Head. In addition to his parents, Mr. Head was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Faye Head Sellers; and three brothers, Otis Head, Elbert Head, and Homer Head. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 1999 at 3:30 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Eddie Honeycutt and Rev. R.L. McDaniels, with burial in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church.

Mr. John ''Eddie'' Mathis, 66, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, September 25, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1933 in Forsyth County to Roy Edward and Julia Ackerman Mathis. Mr. Mathis was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one sister, Teresa Mathis. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Welch Mathis of the home; two sons, Ricky E. Mathis and wife, Cathy, and Roy Lee Mathis and wife, Debbie, both of Winston-Salem; three grandsons, Donny, Randy, and John Lee Mathis, all of Winston-Salem; one sister, Patricia, ''Patty'' Perryman and husband, Jimmy of Lexington; three brothers, Walter Mathis and wife, Janet of Lexington, Richard K. Mathis and wife, Barbara and Robert R. Mathis and wife, Geneva, both of Winston-Salem; and one brother-in-law, Donald Welch and wife, Carolyn of Florida. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 1999 at Hayworth-Miller, Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Ray Hamilton and Dr. Gary McCollough officiating. EDEN -- Luzanie Portis McDaniel, 98, formerly of 106 N. High Street, Eden, died Saturday evening at Morehead Nursing Center. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 1999 at Danview Cemetery. She was born in Patrick County, Va. and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include eight daughters, Mamie M. Taylor of Cascade Va., Margaret McDaniel of Ruffin, Ruth M. Carmon of Gibsonville, N.C., Kathleen Lovings of Greensboro, Nora Jean Wolfe of Greensboro, Hersey M. Calliout of Eden, Carrie M. Branch of Goose Creek, S.C., and Lalia M. Wilson of Eden; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Ablert Ralph McDaniel, and two daughters, Pauline M. Dew and Agnes Elaine McDaniel. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 26, 1999 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence at 106 N. High Street, Eden, N.C.
PETROS
Mr. Ernest John Petros, 65, of 860 Somerset Drive, Winston-Salem, died Saturday, September 25, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born November 9, 1933 in New York City, N.Y. to John and Sophia Pruzynsha Petros. He graduated from the State University of New York and attended U.C.L.A.- Santa Monica and Wake Forest University. Mr. Petros was associated with Western Electric Co., Larson & Larson Architects, and was a Real Estate Broker, and an instructor at Forsyth Technical Community College prior to his retirement as Vice-President of C.E.W. Distributing Co. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, George and Spiro Petros. Surviving are his wife, Julie Wolfe Petros of the home; a daughter, Terry P. Moody and husband, Gary E. Moody, Jr. of Winston-Salem; a son, Michael J. Petros and wife, Amy R. Petros of Clemmons; three grandsons, Nicholas, Isaac, and William Moody; a sister, Mrs. Helen Straligakis and husband, Ted of Pargadikis Halkidikis, Greece; a brother, Peter J. Petros and wife Rose of Boca Raton, Fla., and a sister-in-law, Joan Petros of Wimberly, Texas. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. on September 28, 1999 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Dr. Worth Green officiating. GERMANTON -- Ronald D. Schultz, 59, died Thursday, September 23, 1999 at Winston-Salem Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Mr. Schultz was a native of Iowa. He was employed by AMP Inc. of Greensboro and was a member of Freedom Wesleyan Church of Kernersville. Ronald was a finish carpenter and enjoyed crafting fine furniture. He is survived by his wife, Joane R. Schultz of the home; his son, Ronald D. Schultz of Lexington, N.C.; his father, David Schultz of Minnesota; a sister, Kathy Christsen of Wisconsin; brothers, David, Danny, Roger, and Jerry Schultz, all of Minnesota; and grandson, Spencer Meadows of Lexington, N.C. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at Freedom Wesleyan Church with Reverend H.A. Lewis officiating. OREGON -- Mr. John Joseph Shaw, 52, of Sandy, Ore., died Friday, September 24, 1999 of cardiac arrest. He was a native of Altoona, Pa. but was also formerly a resident of North Carolina. John was survived by Jane P. Shaw of Walkertown and his daughters, Sallie H. Hernandez, Regina H. English, Mary E. Griffith, and Jane C. Wells, all of Kernersville, and Wanda K. Hiatt of San Antonio, Texas. Other survivors include his eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at Faith Christian Center Fellowship in Kernersville on Sunday, September 26, 1999 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Larry and Rev. Teresa Forshee officiating. Mr. Daniel Arthur Starks of 4938 N. Cherry Street, was born January 18, 1918 in Anderson, S.C. to the late James and Lillian Starks, Sr. He was a resident of Detroit, Mich. for most of his life, where he retired from the Chrysler Corporation. Mr. Starks was a veteran of the US Army, having served in World War II and was of the Methodist faith. He departed this life on Wednesday morning, September 22, 1999 at the Forsyth Medical Center, following a period of illness. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 27, 1999 at 11:00 from the Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Rhodford L. Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:15-10:45 a.m. at Hooper Funeral Home. He is survived by his spouse, Mrs. Lucille Jacobs Starks of the home; one sister, Lillian Butler; one brother, James (Augusta) Starks, Jr., all of Detroit, Mich.; a devoted cousin, Ms. Gertie Mack of Winston-Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
