She was the oldest daughter of the late Samuel and Manisa Brown, wife of the late Frank Pullen, former member of Carter’s Chapel Baptist Church, Roanoke Rapids, member of Lawndale First Baptist Church for more than 50 years, Senior Choir, taught Sunday school, attended Henderson Institute, graduated from Winston-Salem Normal College a.k.a. Winston-Salem State University, taught in Warren County, and Douglas High School for many years, retired from Fallston Elementary School, active in North Carolina Teachers Association, Mission Circle, Winston-Salem Alumni Association and Girl Scouts.
