She was a native of Hillsborough, daughter of the late Van Leslie and Irene Octavia Whitaker Kenyon, wife of the late Daniel Earl Wood, mother of the late Daniel Earl Wood, sister of the late Charles Thomas and Van Leslie Kenyon Jr., Madge Maree, Faye Lamn, educated in Hillsboro, attended Woman’s College (UNCG) in Greensboro, member of First Baptist Church, Greensboro, lived with her daughter Kay for the past eight years, was a member of First Baptist Church in Gastonia.

Perry Jr, graduate of Gastonia High School, attended Greensboro Women’s College (UNCG), worked in banking field, one of the first teacher’s aides in Gaston County at North Belmont Elementary School, active in First Presbyterian Church of Belmont as circle chairman, Sunday School teacher, president of Women of the Church, received Life Membership Award in 1983, president of Belmont Professional Woman’s Club, Brownie Scout Leader, researched and compiled family history of Turbyfill family in "Granddaddy’s Turbyfills."
