GASTONIA — Raymond Alfred Wallace, 83, 919 Malotte Lane, died Oct. 28, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Gastonia, son of the late Charles C. and Bessie Frye Wallace, retired builder, Gastonia Building Inspector from 1951 to 1966, served in N.C. State Guard during World War II, past governor of Gastonia Moose Lodge, longtime charter member of Gastonia Noon Lions Club, twice president and received Lion of The Year 1966-67 and 1982-83, had perfect attendance for more than 30 years, presented the Melvin Jones Fellow in 1989, member of Travelers Protective Association for 55 years, held offices in TPA, lifelong member of Order of RedMen, member of Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, worked many years with youth, member of Myers Memorial United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, received Man of The Year in 1992, member of Trinity United Methodist Church, helped build playground area, longtime draftsman of house plans in area, involved in Boy Scouts of America during the 1950s and 1960s, started a Troop in Clover, S.C., supported the 44 clubs in Gastonia.
