He was a native of Lincoln County, husband of the late Margaret Harper Lingerfeldt, son of the late Robert Sr. and Ethel Kiser Lingerfeldt, father of the late Paul Douglas Maloney, grandfather of the late Michael Lingerfeldt, 1949 graduate of Gastonia High School, 1954 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a masters degree in psychology, manager of the football team while attending UNC, retired lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Air Force with more than 20 years of service, part of the strategic air command over B-47 and B-52 bombers, part of the defensive U-2 department program, programmer for Dallas Correctional Institution, head counselor at Gaston Mental Health’s substance abuse program, worked at Carolina Counseling of Belmont, member of First ARP Church of Gastonia.
