GASTONIA — Lt. Col. Robert Dewey Lingerfeldt Jr., 68, 824 Edwards Lane, died Dec. 17, 1999, at home.
He was a native of Lincoln County, husband of the late Margaret Harper Lingerfeldt, son of the late Robert Sr. and Ethel Kiser Lingerfeldt, father of the late Robert D. III and Gregory Michael Lingerfeldt and Paul Douglas Maloney, grandfather of the late Michael Lingerfeldt, 1949 graduate of Gastonia High School, 1954 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, retired lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Air Force, won numerous awards for excellence as an aircraft commander in SAC, flew the B-47, B-52 and U2, earned masters degree in psychology, programmer of Dallas Correctional Institution, head counselor at Gaston Mental Health, worked at Carolina Counseling of Belmont, member of Resurrection Lutheran Church.
