GASTONIA — Mary Effie Hathcock Eudy, 93, Gaston Manor Assisted Living, formerly of 810 Richard Ave., Kannapolis, died Jan. 15, 2000, at her residence.
She was a native of Stanly County, daughter of the late Adam McGinnis and Mary Linker Hathcock, wife of the late Hauty William Eudy, preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters, charter member of Shadybrook Home Demonstration Club, helped begin Cabarrus County Fair where she was the head of Baked Home Goods, honored as Woman of the Year at First Presbyterian Church where she was church hostess for 60 years, sewed for the public and catered weddings and parties.

GASTONIA — Warren Gamaliel Herman, 77, 1110 Greenwich Terrace, died Jan. 15, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Gaston, son of the late Henry J. and Texie Cline Herman, brickmason, retired maintenance supervisor for Threads USA, served as advisor on numerous city and county boards and commissions, including Gaston County Board of Elections, Gastonia Street Commission, co-founder of Taxpayers Action Committee Inc., active member of Gaston County Republican Party, worked as a local campaign advisor to the Presidential Campaigns of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and George Bush, worked as a local campaign advisor to U.S. House of Rep. members Rep. James T. Broyhill, Rep. Cass Ballanger and Rep. Sue Myrick, recognized by Congressman Broyhill as Gaston County Republican of the Year in 1974, served as Gaston County office manager for Congresswoman Ballanger, recognized in 1999 by Congresswoman Myrick for 60 years of dedicated service to the Republican Party and was presented a U.S. Flag flown over the Capitol Building in Washington in his honor, nominated to NC G.O.P. Hall of Fame by Congresswoman Myrick.
