He was a native of Cabarrus County, art teacher, retired from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools after 34 years of service, 1947 graduate of North Carolina A & T State University, founding member of Los Bravos, Army veteran, steward board, North Carolina A & T Alumni Association, Top Soil Club, member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, worked part-time for Mecklenburg Park and Recreation until April 1999.
