LYNCHBURG, VA. — Dr. Frederick Delmar Hamrick III, 66, died April 3, 2000, with his wife, Carolyn Hamrick, from injuries sustained in a car wreck in North Carolina. He was a native of Rutherfordton, N.C., son of the late Frederick D. Hamrick Jr., son-in-law of the late Edward Robin and Doris Pearl Stowe McGee, member First Presbyterian Church of Lynchburg, fellow member of the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinic Pathologists, graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, served as an officer in the Navy, graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, served his pathology residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital, was the only pathologist in Rutherfordton Hospital before leaving for Lynchburg.

Hamrick Jr., member First Presbyterian Church of Lynchburg, graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina, worked as a psychiatric nurse at the University of North Carolina, graduated from Lynchburg College with a master’s degree in counseling, worked as a psychiatric nurse at Virginia Baptist Hospital, founder/owner of Attic to Cellar Red Tag Sales, active civic leader, played an influential role in forming the James River Day School, award-winning member of the Ragged Robin Garden Club.
