She was a native of York County, S.C., daughter of the late Thomas and Minnie Hunter Edwards, wife of the late William Boyd Nivens Sr., mother of the late Terence Michael Nivens, stepmother of the late Howard, Lloyd, Floyd, Ralph, Edward and W.B. Nivens Jr., sister of the late Donald Ray and Billy Edwards, Sue Edwards Davis, graduate of Appalachian State Teacher’s College, retired school teacher from Chapel Grove Elementary School where she taught for more than 35 years, member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers’ Sorority, Lucille Tatum Home Demonstration Club and Literacy Council, instrumental in forming tutoring sessions for returning veterans, now known as the G.E.D. program, member of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years, served as deacon, elder, former Sunday school teacher and Bible moderator.
