She was a native of York County, S.C., daughter of the late Walter Grady and Margaret Faries Wallace, wife of the late William Blair McCarley Sr., mother of the late Margaret Ann and William Blair McCarley Jr., retired in 1997 as personnel director from Gaston County after more than 50 years of service, 1947 graduate of Ashley High School.
