He was a native of Hickory Grove, S.C., son of the late Baxter and Mary Ellen Martin Horne, brother of the late Edith, Eunice, Mae and George Horne, father of the late George "Butch" and Marcella "Bud" Horne, joined the ministry at age 19, served in pastorates in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida, established Church of The Nazarene in Kings Mountain in the early 1940s, retired as churchs minister.
