She was a native of Kings Mountain, daughter of the late Alvin Price and Sarah Elizabeth Patterson Falls, public school teacher for 42 years, president and best all around debater of the Aycock Society at Kings Mountain’s Central High School, received teaching degree from Winthrop College, studied at UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Tennessee, Asheville Teacher’s College, Appalachian State University and The Sorbonne in Paris, taught French and History, coached drama, readings and debate at Mooresboro for 11 years and Charlotte for 17 years, taught sixth grade in Gastonia for two years and at North School for 12 years, life member of Alpha Delta Kappa international honorary teacher’s sorority, member of Shelby’s Sigma Chapter for 12 years and Beta Chi Chapter for 18 years, 25-year member of Thursday Afternoon Book Club, member of Central United Methodist Church, taught Sally Fulton Bible Class for 10 years, chairperson of Commissions on Missions and Committee on History and Records, secretary-treasurer of Circle 1, Vacation Bible School teacher, served on History Committee, wrote history of the church and the United Methodist Women, visited Bible lands in the Middle East and mission fields in West Indies, attended mission school at Pfeiffer College, speaker for various church organizations, authored and published family memoirs, The Falls of Oaklawn.
