He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late David Sidney and Annie Lee Pearce Lee, a four-year Navy veteran of World War II, also served two years in Naval Reserve, electrician’s mate on Ottersetter Destroyer 244 in the Atlantic and Pacific, member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Men’s Bible Study Sunday School class, head usher for many years, leader of 15- and 16-year-old Training Union Class, Boiling Springs Scout Troop 117, organized Explorer Post 117, charter member of Boiling Springs City Fire Department, served as member for many years, member of Friendship Masonic Lodge 388, secretary for three years, chaplin for five years, former member of Boiling Springs Lions Club, received pins for the most new members in the 1980s, received certificate from Danny Thomas Children’s Center Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., for best contributions from Boiling Springs Baptist Church Youth and Community Youth groups in 1981 and 1982, painted Boiling Springs’ first street markers, helped organize Boiling Springs Rescue Squad, served on board of directors for several years, leader of Junior Police, machinist at Dover Mill Company for 20 years, worked in maintenance department of Cleveland Regional Medical Center, retired chief mechanic from Crawley Memorial Hospital.
