Mason Co., volunteered with American Red Cross, Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church and Sharon Towers, elder emeritus at Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church, spent many years as Cub Scout leader and youth baseball coach.

He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late Clarence and Ellen Lovelace Blanton. Husband of the late Aquilla Bell Blanton, Jay Thornburg Steele Blanton, and Lizzie Lovelace Watterson Blanton. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Kings Mountian, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

She was a native of Sevierville, Tenn., daughter of the late Richard and Rosa Lee Shuler Fancher, wife to the late Willie Lee Carter. She was former owner of B&B Grill in North Belmont, former Girl Scout Leader with Troop #12, and was a substitute teacher with the Metro School in Charlotte.
