She was a native of LaFayette, Ga., daughter of the late William Hollis and Bessie Fuller Wimberly, wife of the late Oris Miller Denton, graduate of Hixson High School, Hixson, Tenn., 1939 graduate of Knoxville General Hospital School of Nursing, employed at Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville, Tenn., from 1939-1940, veteran of the Army Nursing Corp. serving 43 months in Australia, New Guinea and Luzon, awarded the American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two bronze service stars, Victory Medal, World War II and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a bronze star, retired emergency room supervisor at Gaston Memorial Hospital, member of First United Methodist Church, Gastonia.

SHELBY — Dr. Paul Mark Sarazen Jr., 214 Fairway Drive, died Aug. 29, 2000, at home.
He was a native of Westchester County, N.Y., son of the late Paul Mark and Marian Belish Sarazen, graduate of Duke University and Duke University School of Medicine, World War II Navy veteran, served in U.S. Medical Corps attached to Air Force during Korean conflict, practiced pediatric medicine in Shelby beginning in 1955, when he co-founded the Shelby Children’s Clinic with Dr. Richard Bowles, first board-certified pediatrician in Shelby, founded Professional Child Care Center, Charlotte, in early 1960s, serves as its president until it merged with another practice, co-founded Temp Vent Corp. in the 1970s, served as its chairman until it was acquired by CertainTeed Corp. in 1999.
