Averette, received B.S. degree in nursing from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, class of 1957, nurse in Chapel Hill before moving to Gastonia, a homemaker, active community participant, volunteer for Crisis Assistance Ministry, served on the Salvation Army Board, worked many American Red Cross Bloodmobiles in the area, longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, active in women of the church, Meals on Wheels program, member of Azalea Garden Club, Gastonia Debutante Club, member and former officer of Gaston County Dental Auxiliary, used nursing skills to care for friends.
