He was a native of Shannon County, Mo., son of the late Peter Houston and Nicholson Thomas. He was a retired auto parts manager, Army veteran of World War II, life member of VFW, life member of the DAV, member of the American Legion and a volunteer driver of veterans.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1940, the Friendship Club of First United Methodist Church, the Garden Club, an extension homemaker with the Lucille Tatum Home Extension Club, volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America for 12 years, and former Hunter Huss High School Band Parent
