He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Lander Lee Sr. and Nella Mae Holland Clemmer, member of Tuckaseege Baptist Church, Boy Scout leader of Troop 521, Army veteran of World War II, retired from First Union National Bank.

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. — James P. "Jim" Burgin, 74, formerly of Belmont, died Sept. 11, 2000 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
He was a native of Belmont, son of the late J. "Alex" and Ethel Martin Burgin. He was an Army veteran of World War II, member of Living Water Baptist Church, Little River S.C, where he served as a deacon and choir member. He was a member of the pitching staff with the Belmont Combers Baseball team in the late ‘40s and early ‘50s, retired after 30 years service with Duke Power, and was employed at The Gator Hole Golf Course Driving Range, Little River.
