He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late Thomas Lawson and Epsie Warren Kendrick, member of South Marietta Street Baptist Church, retired electrical supervisor with the city of Gastonia after 39 years, Army veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne as a sergeant.
