He was a native of Dallas, son of the late Andrew Albertus and Pearl Pasour Cloninger, served in World War II in the Pacific with the USMC 5th Division, received commission, served as legal officer in San Diego and was adjutant of the Missile Battalion in 29 Palms, Calif., when he retired, member of First United Methodist Church, lived in Gastonia since 1991.
