He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Samuel Augustus and Nellie Henderson Moore, graduate of Belmont High School, attended UNC Charlotte, served in Marines during Korean War where he participated in the Inchon Invasion, retired from AT&T, member of AT&T Pioneers, Goshen Presbyterian Church, served as deacon, elder, Sunday school superintendent, teacher, former member of West Mecklenburg Optimist Club, coached little league.
