He was a native of Greenwich, Conn., Vietnam Army veteran who received two purple hearts, one bronze star and combat infantry badge; after leaving the service was employed by Claire Brothers Audio, Lititz, Pa., where he worked sound boards for singers and bands; licensed massage therapist and healer for Healing Connection, Concord and Cornelius; graduate of Sand Hills Community College, Sand Hills, with a degree in horticulture; member of Rotary National, Royal Palm Beach Jaycees, VFW and West Palm Beach Hunt Club.

DENVER — Marcus Hal Hoyle Jr., 79, 1333 Nature Preserve Trail, died Oct. 8, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
He was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late Marie Rudisill and Marcus Hal Hoyle Sr., associated with Hoyle Motor Company for more than 40 years, Navy veteran of World War II, served aboard Aircraft Carrier Boxer, returned home in 1946, joined Kiwanis Club, served as president in 1959, president of Lincolnton Merchant’s Association in 1957, served on board of directors and president of Lincoln County Life Saving and First Aid Crew, appointed to board of county commissioners in 1961, served as chairman from 1962 until 1966, founding member of Lake Norman Commission in 1967, received Kiwanian of the Year Award in 1960, Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year Award in 1966, Lion’s Club Man of the Year in 1967, Mason in Oasis Shrine Temple for many years.
