He was a native of Wheeling, W.Va., assistant to head of school at Gaston Day School since 1995, guidance counselor and college placement advisor, academic advisor to select students each year, member of Order of the Marist Brothers from 1968 to 1980, received bachelor’s degree in political science from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1972, master’s in urban education/media studies from New School for Social Research in New York in 1978, Ed.D. in educational psychology from the Joint Program, City University of New York and Forham University in 1986, one of 20 educators named as outstanding educator in New York City by Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the Interschool Consortium in 1991, recognized by "Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers" in 1998, director of counseling at the Collegiate School in New York, N.Y., from 1987 to 1995, independent consultant in private practice in New York from 1985 to 1987, served in academic and administrative positions in private and independent schools throughout New York from 1972 to 1985, as well as adjunct assistant professor in counseling and education in New York area colleges and universities, certified member of American Counseling Association, member of American School Counselor Association and Association for Specialists in Group Work, served as chairman of steering committee at Gaston Day School for Southern Association of Independent Schools reaccreditation review, helped establish the Peer Counseling Program.
