He was a former industrial relations manager at Firestone Textile, past chairman of the Gaston Democratic Party, former president of Piedmont Personal Association, recipient of Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award, member of Loray Baptist Church where he was a member of the Berean class and served on the board of deacons, Army veteran.

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — Donald Arthur Stewart, 84, formerly of River Hills, Lake Wylie, S.C., died Sept. 25, 2000, at Atlantic Beach. He was a native of Ripon, Wis., veteran of World War II serving as a major in the 610th Tank Destroyers, prominent in the life insurance business and served as president of the Chicago chapter of the Chartered Life Underwriters, resided in Glen Ellyn and Glenview, Ill., prior to moving to River Hills where he was former president of the River Hills Lions Club and member of the River Hills Country Club.
