He was a native of Brown Summit, son of the late Henry and Lucinda Thacker Jones, brother of the late Mabel Seville, Estalea Hayes, Aldean Jones, Rev. Luman Jones, Rev. Elwood Jones, Ruben and Andrew Jones, graduated from Dudley High School, attended A&T State University, graduate of Livingstone College and Hood Theological Seminary, continued his education at Furman University, Garrett University and Emory University, member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity and the Reynolds-Miller chorale, began his pastoral career at Epworth Methodist Church, Gastonia, served as pastor at several United Methodist churches including Asbury Memorial, Durham, Brooks Memorial, High Point, Berry Temple and Wilson Chapel, Asheville, Saints Home, Winston-Salem, St. James, Rural Hall, Addies Chapel, Marion, member and held various positions in the Western North Carolina and Central jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church, Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and United Methodist Ministers Association, was a member of Berry Temple after retirement.
