HERTFORD - Edna Elizabeth Hollowell, 91, a native of Chowan County, died Jan. 1, 2002 at Albemarle Hospital.
A funeral was conducted Friday at Swindell Funeral Home by the Rev. Gene Boyce. Burial was in Cedar Wood Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be sent to the American Heart Association, c/o Suzi Johnson, 3015 S. Memorial Dr., Suite A, Greenville, NC 27834.
She was retired from Woodard's Pharmacy as a clerk and was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Syble H. Chappell of Hobbsville; a niece and nephew.
Milton L. Lane Sr.
BELVEDERE - Milton Lloyd Lane Sr., 79, a native of Winfall, died Jan. 5, 2002, at Albemarle Hospital. He was the widower of Virginia Wright Lane.
A graveside service was conducted Tuesday at White - Lane family cemetery., Winfall, by Pastor Tom McClarden. Twiford's Funeral Home was in charge.
Lane was a retired foreman with Royal Silver Manufacturing Co., Norfolk, Va,; and was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol L. Paris of Hertford, Dorothy L. Vaughan and Andrea Lane, both of Belvedere; two sons, Milton Lloyd Lane Jr. of Moyock and James Lane of Norfolk; a sister, Helen Perry of Chesapeake; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Beulah P. Harrell
SCOTLAND NECK - Beulah Pledger Harrell, 85, a native of Northampton County, died January 5, 2002, at Guardian Care of Scotland Neck.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary H. Piland of Corapeake; three sons, Gene Harrell of Scotland Neck and Daniel Harrell of Suffolk, Va.; one brother, Jimmy Pledger of Aulander; 10 grandchildren; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted Tuesday at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square, by the Rev. Bobby Hunt. Garrett Funeral Home, Rich Square, was in charge.
James P. Boone
AHOSKIE - James Phillip Boone, 84, a resident of Guardian Care Nursing Home, died Feb. 11, 2002 in Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
A native of Gates County, Boone was a graduate of NCTS/Southwestern High School, Nansemond County, Suffolk Class of 1936.
He was the son of the late Rose Melton Boone and William J. Boone.
A funeral was held at 2 p.m., Feb. 15, 2002 in New Hope Baptist Church, Gates, by the Rev. James K. Brown, pastor. Burial was in the Boone Family Cemetery in Roduco.
Survivors include a son, Rocky Boone of Williamsport, Pa.; a sister, Clarice Holland of Suffolk; a special friend, Erma Lee Parker of Roduco and several grandchildren.
Lila C. Parker
GATESVILLE - Lila Casper Parker, 90, a native of Gates County, died Feb. 16, 2002.
Parker was a member of Higher Ground Pentecoastal Holiness Church. She was the daughter of the late Calvin and Nannie T. Casper. She was the widow of Monnie "Marvin" Parker. She was a homemaker.
A funeral was held Feb. 19. 2002 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Edenton by the Rev. Charles Lockwood and Rev. Lester Jarrett. Burial was in the Ahoskie Cemetery.
Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy P. Coats of Edenton, Myrtle P. Pierce of Ahoskie, Lillie P. Hollowell, Francis P. Brabble, Louise P. Harmon; one foster daughter, Lula C. Cooper of Ahoskie; two sons, McCoy Parker of Edenton and Monnie V. Parker of Ahoskie; one sister, Vennie Harrell of Hobbsville; one brother, Clinton Casper of Hobbsville; 30 grandchildren, 57 great - grandchildren and 27 great - great - grandchildren.
Rebecca J. Taylor
GATESVILLE - Rebecca Johnston Taylor, a native of Warren County, died Feb. 23, 2002, in her home. She was the widow of Willis Perkins Taylor Jr.
A funeral was conducted Tuesday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church by the Rev. Jim McGee. Burial was in Gatesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Gatesville, NC 27938, or to University Hospice, Ahoskie, NC 27910. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge.
Mrs. Taylor had retired from the Selective Service Board and the FHA Office in Winton and was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca J. Taylor of Suffolk and Olivia Stevens Kleinmaier of Winston - Salem; a son, W.P. "Perky" Taylor III of Suffolk; and six grandchildren.
Jordan N. Hale
GATES - Jordan Nicole Hale, was stillborn, died Feb. 20, 2002, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Private services have been held. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
Survivors include her parents, Danny Ray and Vicki Bynum Hale; maternal grandparents, Betty Jo and Jimmy Umphlett of Gates; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Patty Hale of Corapeake; and maternal great - grandmother, Sally Savage of Gates.
Katherine E. Riddick
HOBBSVILLE - Katherine Eason Riddick, 88, a native of Perquimans County, died Feb. 22, 2002, in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. She was the widow of Lonnie N. Riddick.

Mrs. Riddick was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Marie Galling Johnson, 91, a native of Roduco, died Feb. 19, 2002.
A funeral was conducted Monday at Celestial Baptist Church by the Rev. Leon Boone. Burial was in Lincoln Cemetery. Steele - Bullock Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Celestial Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Georgie Chavis of Chicago, III.; 11 grandchildren; and a host of great - grandchildren.
Lola M. Davis
PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Lola May Davis, 73, a native of Norfolk County, died Feb. 15, 2002. She was the widow of Roy Melvin Davis.
A graveside service was Tuesday at Olive Branch Cemetery by. Keith Lewis. Sturtevant Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs. Davis was retired from General Electric as a processor.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Bass of Gates and Christina Pittman of Portsmouth; two sons, Roy M. Davis Jr. of Collinsville, Va., and David Davis of Fremont, Neb.; three sisters, seven brothers; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great - grandchildren.
