Clayton Tysinger
Lexington - Clayton Tysinger, 79, of 5778 US 64 East, died April 19, 2000, at Thomasville Community General Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1920, in Davidson County, a son of Henry Clay and Pallie Bean Tysinger. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II and aboard the USS Cofer as a ships cook first class in the Pacific Theater. He retired as general manager from Commercial Carving with more than 42 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, a member of the Men's Bible Class. served as treasurer of the class and a member of the Men's Prayer Group. He married Helen Bryant Tysinger, who preceded him in death Aug. 6, 1992. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Tysinger Cook; a sister, Mrs. Johnsie Dunn; three brothers, Stokes, Joe and Paul Tysinger; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Carlton.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Mrs. Angelia Cook Thompson and her husband, Jeff, of Lexington; son-in-law Charles E. Cook of Thomasville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Eulis B. Carlton of Lexington; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Frances Essick of Lexington.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church by the Rev. E. Keith Carroll, the Rev. Carroll Upton and the Rev. Leon Thompson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Max Williams
High Point - Max 'M.B.' Banner Williams, 70, of Deep River Road, died April 18, 2000, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.
He was born Dec. 3, 1929, in Guilford County, a son of Edward and Ruth Thacker Williams. He was a lifelong resident of High Point and had been employed at High Point Hardware and Beeson Hardware. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Deep River Friends Meeting. On April 12, 1958, he married the former Claudette Polson, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a son, Brian Williams of High Point; stepson, Buster Ellison of Greensboro; and two brothers, Edward Williams Jr. and Charles Williams, both of High Point.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Deep River Friends Meeting Cemetery by the Rev. John Sides. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

Rachel Bivens
Greensboro - Rachel Thompson Bivens, cherished and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died April 14, 2000.
She was born in Lynch Station, Va. and graduated from Altavista High School in Altavista, Va. She completed her education in 1929, as a graduate of Longwood College in Farmville, Va. She taught at Jamestown School and lived in the Jamestown School Teacherage, where she met and married a fellow teacher, Tom Bivens, Sr. She also taught school in Altavista and New Bern and taught 2nd grade at Sedgefield Elementary School for 20 years while her husband worked with Burlington Industries R & D. She was a former member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Episcopal Church Women, and she was also a former member of the Sedgefield Women's Club.
She was married 61 years to Thomas J. Bivens, Sr., who is now deceased.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. and Pat Bivens, Jr. of Greensboro; grandchildren, Roy Thomas Bivens and his wife, Amy, Rachel Bivens Dodson and her husband, Kent, and Daniel John Bivens; great-grandsons, Joshua Daniel Bivens and Cassady Hunter Elmo Dodson.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Hanes-Lineberry, Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
William Breedlove
Gold Hill - William Stanley Breedlove, 66, of Gold Hill died April 14, 2000, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a short period of declining health.
He was born Oct. 31, 1933, in Guilford County, a son of John Williams Breedlove and Laura Curthis Breedlove. He attended Guilford County Schools and was a retired employee of Tenneco Packaging. He was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church in Salisbury.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julia Ann Welborn Breedlove, who he married Aug, 22, 1954; five daughters, Mrs. Steve (Brenda) Morgan of Rockwell, Mrs. Byron (Christine) Brush of Rockwell, Mrs. Scott (Joy) Scruggs of Salisbury, Mrs. Charles (Teresa) McFarland of Norwood, Ohio and Mrs. Gilbert (Kimberly) Morgan of Gold Hill; two brothers, John Robert Breedlove of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Art Miller Breedlove of Lexington; and a sister, Mrs. Robert L. (Hazel) Thomas of High Point.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Ernest Mullins, the Rev. Gene Beaver and the Rev. Lee Cockerill. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell and at the home of Christine Brush.
Arthur Broadway
Burlington - Arthur S. 'Doc' Broadway, 90, of 318 Quintas Avenue died April 14, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Rowan County, a son of C.C. Broadway and Josephine Owen Broadway. He was a retired machinist and was preceded in death by his wife, Mada Lucas Broadway; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Younts; two brothers, Wade Broadway and Harvey Broadway; and a great-grandson, Aaron David Carter.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Broadway Carter of Graham; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Broadway Lackey of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Numa Broadway of High Point; a grandson, David Lynn Carter of Burlington and a grandson, Lucas Nathaniel Carter.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rich & Thompson Chapel. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
Zed Campbell
High Point - Zed Campbell, 63, of Parinna Drive died April 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Abington, Va. on June 16, 1936, the sone of Ira and Cora Reedy Campbell. He was formerly employed as a machine operator with Woodmark Originals.
Surviving are three sisters, Ida Cochrane and her husband, Clay, of High Point, Nina McCombs and her husband, Bill, of Mt. City, Tenn. and Dora Reynolds; and a brother, Bobby Campbell of Abington, Va.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at The Original Church of God Cemetery in Lexington with the Rev. Jesse Maynard and Pat Eller.

Frances Dudley
High Point - Mrs. Frances Haun Dudley, 79, formerly of High Point died April 15, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Chapel Hill.
She was born in Welch, W. Va. Jan. 7, 1921, a daughter of Charles Corbett and Clarissa Margurite Holbrook Haun. During her life, she was a teacher, a real estate broker, secretary for the statistics department at North Carolina State University and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church and was married to Hardy D. Dudley, who died May 9, 1998.
Surviving are a son, David Dudley and his wife, Donna, of Charlotte; a daughter, Lisbeth Northcott and her husband, Bob, of Chapel Hill; 10 grandchildren, Holly R. Hunt and Dana R. Grimberg, both of High Point, Drew Dudley of Charlotte, Melissa Alderman of Boone and Chris, Abby, Zach and Sam Northcott, all of Chapel Hill; six great-grandchildren, Anna, Nicholas and Cameron Smith, Joel and Joshua Hobson and Elizabeth Grimberg.
Funeral is 3 p.m. Monday at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ken Kroohs. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home.

John Duncan
High Point - John Jerome Duncan, 76, of 701 S. Elm Street, Apt. 1000 died April 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born March 22, 1924, in Chatham County, a son of John A. and Alma Keller Duncan. He was a member of Gospel Light Independent Free Will Baptist Church and was retired from Henredon Furniture Industries. His first wife, Betty V. Duncan, preceded him in death on March 18, 1977.
Surviving are his second wife, Goldie Chuke Duncan, who he married on Sept. 18, 1998; two daughters, Terri McLees and her husband, Tom, of Greensboro and Phyllis Hudman of Alamogordo, N.M.; a step-daughter, Genita Petralli of Los Angeles, Calif.; a step-son, Michael Breseman of San Francisco, Calif,; a brother, Billy Duncan of Siler City; three sisters, Katie Harell of Archdale, Sara King of Burlington and Wilma Bridges of Liberty; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a step-grandchild.
Funeral is 3 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
Visitation is 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home until the service and at other times at the home of his daughter, 1305 Sunset Drive, Greensboro.
Martha Hay
Jamestown - Mrs. Martha Tilden Hay, 77, of 607 W. Main Street died April 15, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Guilford County, a daughter of Thomas and Ruth Fulton Tilden. She had been a resident of Jamestown most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Jamestown Historic Society, the Garden Club, the Modern Book Club and Jamestown United Methodist Church. Her husband, Robert C. Hay, preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, William Robert Hay of Jamestown and Richard Tilden Hay of High Point; a brother, Ralph Tilden of Banner Elk; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Mast-Farthing United Methodist Church in Valle Crusis. Sechrest Funeral Home on East Lexington Avenue is in charge of arrangements.
