Sarah Brown
Archdale - Mrs. Sarah Louise Brown, 74, died April 30, 2000, at Westwood Nursing Home Center after several years of declining health.
She was born April 13, 1926, in Guilford County. A daughter of Houston J. and Lela McNeill Burroughs, who preceded her in death. On Jan. 21, 1946, she married Alvah T. Brown, who preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Brown was formerly employed with Hanes Hosiery and was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son and daughter--in-law, Wade and Terri Brown of Archdale; a sister, Mary Dailey of High Point; and a granddaughter, Leticia.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service by the Rev. Roy Cantrell. Burial will be in Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Theo Frazier
Archdale - Theo Anderson Frazier, 74, of Archdale died April 28, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Guilford County, the son of Anderson and Lillie Lewallen Frazier. He retired from Adams-Millis after 41 years of employment and was a Deacon at Wayside Chapel for eight years.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Della Stamper Shepard Frazier of Archdale; two sons, Buster Shepard of Jamestown and Johnny Ray Shepard of Archdale; one daughter, Marie Fite of Tyler, Texas; two brothers, Sabra Frazier of Thomasville and Dwight Frazier of High Point; one sister, Bera Williams of Greensboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Harold C. Davis Chapel by Rev. Jessie Maynard. Burial will be at Spring Hill U.M.C. Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the Harold C. Davis funeral home.
Dora Hicks
High Point - Dora Bealie Hicks, 97, a former resident of Rockspring Road died April 30, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital following an illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home.
Ethel Kesler
Virginia Beach - Mrs. Ethel Royal Kesler, 95, of 1337 Chewink Court, died April 28, 2000, in Charleston, S.C., at her daughter's residence.
She was born Nov. 11, 1904, in Yadkinville. A daughter of Walter E. Royal and Lily Rutledge Royal, who preceded her in death. She was a retired librarian and a graduate of the Woman's College, now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was married to James C. Kesler, who preceded her in death in 1971.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Ethel Kesler of the home and Dr. Jane K. Upshur of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in Gods Acre Cemetery on Mills Home Campus by Dr. Randy Stewart.

Leola McKinney
High Point - Mrs. Leola Moon McKinney, 89, of 225 Windley St. died April 28, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born July 2, 1911, in Marion, Ga., a daughter of Walter Moon and Orilla Bailey. She was retired and was a lifelong Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McKinney; four sons, Burford McKinney, Rogers McKinney, Perry McKinney and Kerry McKinney; and two daughters, Jonnie McKinney and Paulette McKinney.
Surviving are three sons, Troy McKinney of Brooklyn, N.Y., Larry McKinney and wife, Marcellette, of High Point; and a son, John McKinney of High Point; five daughters, Mrs. Edith Pendergrass and Mrs. Maureen Hyatte and husband, Melvin, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Aramintha Ware and husband, Moses, of Martinsville Va.; Mrs. Rosa Medley and Mrs. Brunea Pinson, both of High Point; two sisters, Edith Moon of Shelby and Nettie Kirkland of Manhattan, N.Y.; 43 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Agape Family Ministries by Pastor Roy Fitzgerald. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens. Visitation will be 3:30-4 p.m. Tuesday at the church and other times at the home.
Willie Abney
Mullins, S.C. - Willie Ray Abney, 53, fondly known as 'Weasil' and 'Sonny Boy' of 736 Drew Road, formerly of High Point, N.C., died May 1, 2000, at Holly Haven Family Care Facility, Winston-Salem, N.C., where he had been a patient for two weeks.
He was born in High Point a son of James Walter and Martha Abney Archie, who both preceded him in death. He attended the High Point public schools and for a number of years resided in Homestead, Fla. He was employed by the city of Homestead in the street maintenance department and was of the Baptist faith. He married the former Gloria Jean Blocker, who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mott and Ella Abney.
Surviving are two brothers, James Archie Jr. and Jerry Archie and his wife, Dorothy; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ophelia Archie of High Point; stepgrandmother, Mrs. Corine Abney of Baltimore, Md.; aunts, Mrs. Lillie Mae Edwards and Ophelia Archie of High Point; two uncles, Douglas Archie of Paterson, N.J., and Michael Archie of High Point; two great-uncles, Herman Barrier of Baltimore and Sidney Barrier of Paterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and other relatives and friends, among them, Ms. Minnie Finklea, who was very special to him.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at New Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. John Mason. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 p.m. at the church and other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Archie, 1705 Oberlin Drive.

Blanche Church
Fleetwood - Mrs. Blanche Cheek Church, 84, went home to be with Jesus, May 2, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Ashe County, a daughter of Hege Cheek and Anna Shirley Cheek, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William Roe Church; a daughter, Genna Church Wilcox; and two grandsons.
Surviving are five sons, William 'Bill' Church of Trinity, Kendrick Church and Carris Church, both of Thomasville, Wendell Church of Statesville, and Royce Church of Fleetwood; four daughters, Mrs. Carl (Margie) Warrell of Thomasville; Mrs. Franklin (Myrtle) Herring of Winston-Salem, Janiice Church of the residence and Mrs. James (Joyce) Sechrest of Fleetwood; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Cheek and Conley Cheek of Fleetwood; two sisters, Beulah Phillips of Jefferson and Sylvia Triplett of Granite Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church by the Rev. James Sechrest, the Rev. Jeff Severt, the Rev. Joe Riley Blevins and the Rev. Vernon Eller. Burial will be in Gap Creek Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Badger Funeral Home.

Dora Hammonds
Jamestown - Mrs. Dora Mae Buchanan Hammonds, 83, of 107 Kearns St., formerly of Thomasville and Siler City, died May 2, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born July 10, 1916, in Sullivan County, Tenn., a daughter of David and Delia Dyles Buchanan, who preceded her in death. She lived the greater part of her life in this area. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She married David Hammonds, who preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1995. She also was preceded in death by a son, John David Hammonds; and two grandchildren, Danny McClure and Mary Ann Vaughan.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. C.L. (Delia) Brooks of Siler City, Mrs. Gary (Dolly) Olson of Greensboro and Mrs. Richard (Goldie) Gill of the residence; two sons, Calvin Hammonds of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Dawson Hammonds and his wife, Joyce, of Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Bonnie McClellan of Hudson, Fla.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. Van E. Brinkley. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
