Collinsville, Va. - Aaron 'Pete' Borders Quinn Jr., 72, of 54 Ferndale Court died April 30, 2000.
He was born April 8, 1928, in Shelby, N.C., a son of Aaron B. Quinn and Katherine B. Shaw of Greensboro, who both preceded him in death. He graduated from Staunton Military Academy, attended North Carolina State University and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from United Elastic in Stuart, Va.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine, of the residence; a daughter, Velva Q. Yurko; three sons, Aaron B. Quinn III, R. Tucker Quinn and Michael B. Quinn, all of High Point, N.C.; three stepdaughters; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Katherine) Mabry of Shelby, N.C., and Mrs. Thomas T. (Enniss) Lasitter of Mooresville, N.C.; a brother, Charles H. Quinn of Bermuda Run, N.C.

High Point - Harold F. Redding, 71, of 5418 Caraway Mt. Road died May 11, 2000, at his residence.

Archdale - Mrs. Lois Bell Lawrence Turner, 75, of 6217 Pinebrook Drive died May 11, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Guilford County, a daughter of Clyde W. and Cora Estelle Honeycutt Lawrence. She retired from Leggett & Platt Inc. and attended Ashland Street Baptist Church. On April 8, 1944, she married Robert Ellis Turner, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Carol Lois Peace of Trinity; a son, Larry Robert Turner Sr. of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Robert Peace, Richard Peace, Larry R. Turner Jr. and Jeannie A. Stevens; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Grady Ray Lawrence of Destin, Fla.; and two sisters, Eva Pierce of Jamestown and Jackie Hawkins of Sophia.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Keith Peters. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Hassalyne Walker
High Point - Mrs. Hassalyne Brewer Thomas Walker, 75, of 910 Marlboro St. died May 12, 2000.
She was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Randolph County, a daughter of George M. and Nannie Ellis Brewer. She was a graduate of High Point High School and was a resident of High Point most of her life. She was former owner and manager of Community Credit and retired in 1987 from Kentucky Finance Co. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church, where she was baptized in 1934. She was a member of the Helen Bowman Sunday School Class, a caller for the Sunshine Fellowship Club and a mobile meals volunteer.
Surviving are a son, Barry Thomas and his wife, Brenda, of High Point; a brother, Ernest Brewer of Lewisville; two grandsons, Randy Thomas of Statesville and Paul Thomas of Snow Camp; a granddaughter, Terri Wilson of High Point; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sechrest Funeral Service Chapel by the Rev. Gene Phillips. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

George Williams Jr.
Lexington - George Washington Williams Jr., 84, of 500 Western Blvd. died May 11, 2000, at his residence.
He was born March 15, 1916, in Stokes County, a son of the Rev. George Washington and Minnie Hudson Williams. He was a resident of Davidson County, most of his life and a member of First United Methodist Church. He retired as vice president of sales from Bryant Electric of High Point, with 40 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Sara Holmes Harrison Williams of the residence; three daughters, the Rev. Sara W. Jacobson of Chickasha, Okla., Mary Frances Williams of Cary and Sandra W. Lefler of Greensboro; two sons, George W. Williams III of Houston and David H. Williams of High Point; a sister, Mildred W. Teague of Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at Timberlake Chapel at Piedmont Funeral Home by the Rev. J. Larry Jacobson. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Piedmont Funeral Home.

Lula Young
Archdale - Mrs. Lula Owen Young, 94, of Westwood Health Care, formerly of Steele St., High Point, died May 11, 2000.
She was born April 8, 1906, in Southmont, a daughter of Mathise and Minnie Younts Owen. She retired from Adams-Millis Hosiery Mill and was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in High Point. On April 16, 1927, she married Charlie O. Young, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Emma Stalker of Ramseur and Mrs. Agnes Hill of Asheboro; a brother, Buddy Owen of Archdale; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sechrest Chapel, Archdale, by the Rev. John Allard and the Rev. Ray Hamilton. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Essie Arthur
Asheboro - Mrs. Essie Allred Arthur, 97, died May 15, 2000, at Westwood Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was a native of Randolph County. After the death of her parents, she was reared in the residence of John C. and Cora Giles Allred. She was an active member of Giles Chapel United Methodist church, where she was a life member of the Woman's Society and former teacher of the Essie A. Arthur Sunday School Class. She was a teacher in the Randolph and Richmond County schools and a former employee of Belk's. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sol Arthur.
Surviving are a nephew, R.S. 'Sonny' Davis; and four nieces, Martha Davis Modlin, Jean Davis Swiggett, Doris Davis Cashatt and June Royals Foster.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Giles Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve Woods and the Rev. Wilbur Jarrett. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Pugh Funeral Home.

Callie Atkinson
High Point - Mrs. Callie Beamer Atkinson, 95, of 1827 Country Club Drive died May 15, 2000, at her residence after five years of declining health.
She was born April 2, 1905, in Surry County, a daughter of James Andrew and Susan Freeman Beamer. She was retired from Slane Hosiery Mill and was a faithful member of Mt. Shepherd Primitive Baptist Church. In August 1921, she married Elder Samuel T. Atkinson Sr., who preceded her in death Sept. 24, 1974. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Annie Pearl Atkinson and a son, Samuel T. Atkinson Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rae Beck Logan and her husband, Ralph, of the residence and Mrs. Virginia A. Lisenby of Wadesboro; a son, William L. 'Bill' Atkinson and his wife, Lou, of 605 Sherbrook Drive; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charleen P. Atkinson of 700 Seven Oaks; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sechrest Chapel, High Point, by Elder W.M. Freeman. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of her son.

Lexington - Mrs. Kathleen Morgan Edmonds, 81, of Caitlin Lane died at 11:50 a.m. May 15, 2000, at Beverly House Nursing Home, after two months of declining health.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in Summerville Baptist Church Cemetery, Denton.

Athlone Hepler
High Point - Mrs. Athlone Williams 'Susie' Hepler, 75, died May 14, 2000, at Brian Center in Lexington after several years of declining health.
She was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Graham, a daughter of William Vestal and Vera Gillespie Longest. She retired from General Paper Co. after 28 years of service and later worked at Quality Catering. She was a member of Albertson Road Baptist Church. She was married to James Walter Williams, who preceded her in death June 26, 1964, and later married Hal Anderson Hepler, who also preceded her in death Sept. 26, 1986.
Surviving are a son V.A. 'Randy' Williams and his wife, Janice, of High Point; a stepson, Henry Hepler and his wife, Becky, of Kernersville; two stepdaughters, Frances H. Manuel and her husband, Bill, of Winston-Salem and Mary Elizabeth Holt and her husband, John, of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Richard A. 'Dick' Longest of Graham and L.G. 'Buddy' Longest of Mebane; a stepbrother, Harold Longest of Graham; a granddaughter, Melissa McGee of High Point; seven stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Osteen and the Rev. Steve Ervin. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of Randy Williams, 2007 Edgewood Drive.

Ronald Osborne
Sophia - Ronald Belvion Osborne, 55, of 3571 Roy Farlow Road Lot 38 died May 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Dec. 8, 1944, in Guilford County, a son of Whitt Patterson and Hazel Farrington Osborne. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20 and a member of the American Legion Post 87. On April 3, 1992, he married the former Ruth Geneva O'Neal, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Tamara Silverthorne of Archdale; an adopted son, Marshall Osborne of Greensboro; a stepdaughter, Amanda Hedrick of Archdale; two stepsons, Michael Hedrick of Archdale and Craig Hedrick of Burlington; a brother, Barry Osborne of Winston-Salem; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. James Grant. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Salisbury National Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

High Point - Mrs. Mildred Gerwig 'Pete' Peatross, 78, of the Presbyterian Home died May 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in Baltimore, April 27, 1922, a daughter of George Randolph and Augusta Simon Gerwig. She was employed by High Point Memorial Hospital and later by Presbyterian Home.
Surviving are a son, Louis Sizemore of New Bern; a daughter, Mrs. Cindy Baylis and her husband, Clifford, of Thomasville; three sisters, Marie Baseman, Larue Mitchell and Betty Sherman, all of Baltimore; 11 grandchildren, Johanna Griffin of McDonough, Ga., Louis M. Sizemore Jr. of Locust Grove, Ga., Danielle Sizemore of Locust Grove, Ga., Anthony Martin Sizemore of High Point, Seaman Adrian B. Sizemore, serving in the U.S. Navy, Sr. Airman Jeremy Tait Sizemore of Korea, Kevin Reheiser of New Port Richey, Fla., Michael C. Slaydon Jr. of East Bend, John Mark Slaydon and Christopher George Slaydon, both of High Point, Charles Kittenger Baylis of Thomasville; and 14 great-grandchildren.
