William Pfaff
High Point - Mr. William B. 'Bill' Pfaff, 75, of 611 Dorado Circle, High Point, formerly of Winston-Salem, died June 4, following a brief illness at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born on May 2, 1925 to the late J. Hoke and Maude Transou Pfaff. He was a graduate of Old Town High School and served in the 8th Army Air Force in England and Germany during World War II. He began a long career in real estate in 1950 and retired from Home Real Estate Company in 1990. He continued to work in property management for seven years following his retirement. During his career, he became a well-known figure in the local real estate market. A member of the Winston-Salem Regional Association of Realtors since 1954, he was instrumental in starting the Property Management Division of the NC Association of Realtors where he served as the first vice-president and director for three years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. He served on the local level as president of the Property Management Division 1960-1975 and again in 1983. He was a life-long member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees including finance, trustees, administrative board, building committees, choirs, Methodist men, and Sunday School teacher for the Fellowship Bible Class. He was married to Golda Saunders on June, 8, 1946, who preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 1997. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, J.P. 'Pete' Pfaff and Ralph B. Pfaff and a granddaughter Sara O'Shields. Surviving are his wife, Joan Huggins Pfaff whom he married June 19, 1999, two sons; Michael William Pfaff and wife Ann and Steven Bert Pfaff and wife Ellen; one grandson, William Garrett Pfaff and two great-grandsons, Edward and Alex O'Shields. He is also survived by two brothers, D. Clyde Pfaff and Wayne T. Pfaff and three sisters, Stella Lewis, Doris 'Dot' Sprinkle, and Ruth Chandler.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at Mount Tabor United Methodist church by Dr. Ken Carter and the Rev. Susan Hubbard and the Rev. Derry Barnhardt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel and at other times at the home.

Eleanor Riddle
High Point - Mrs. Eleanor Cobb Riddle, 97, of the Wesleyan Arms Nursing Center in High Point died June 3, 2000.
She was born on May 28, 1903 to Dennis and Annie Hardison Cobb in Wayne County.
She moved to High Point from Raleigh in 1985. She was a music teacher and was a member of Edenton Street Methodist Church in Raleigh.
Survivors include two sons Caswell A. Riddle of Greensboro and Charles C. Riddle of Wooster, Ohio. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband Caswell Archer Riddle preceded her in death.
Funeral services for will be private at Montlawn Memorial Gardens in Raleigh on June 17, 2000. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Edenton Street Methodist Church, 228 West Edenton Street, Raleigh N.C. 27603.

Gertrude Ford
High Point - Mrs. Gertrude Hamlin Ford, 67, of 1750 Stoneybrook Drive died June 3, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital where she was a patient for one week.
She was born in High Point, a daughter of Jack Rice Sr. and Gracie Hamlin Coleman, who both preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of High Point and a homemaker. She Married Clyde Miller, who preceded her in death. She later married George Ford Sr., who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Anthony Hamlin and George Ford Jr., both of High Point; a daughter, Mrs. Eva Pantoria Tanner of the residence; seven grandchildren, among these, two she reared, Shaun and Shannon; a brother, Wilford Hamlin and his wife, Denise, of High Point; a sister, Mrs. Sarah 'Pansy' Embry and her husband, T.C., of Radcliff, Ky.; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other in-laws and friends.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Haizlip Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Ronald Diggs. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel and other times at the residence.
Deborah Green
Thomasville - Ms. Deborah Ann Green, 31, of Jennings Street died June 2, 2000 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Funeral will be 5 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. H.N. Goode. Visitation will be 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Oakle Hunt Sr.
Asheboro - Oakle E. Hunt Sr., 91, of 1111 Mt. View Church Road died June 5, 2000, at his residence.
He was a native of Randolph County and was the founder of Hunts Auto Parts. Inc. He was a member of Mountain View Methodist Church, where he was a trustee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Miller Hunt.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Louise) Jarrell and Mrs. William (Eula Mae) Trotter, both of Asheboro; three sons, Charles L. Hunt, Larry M. Hunt and Oakle E. Hunt Jr., all of Asheboro; two sisters, Blanche Dougan and Jeanette Harlan, both of Asheboro; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mountain View Methodist Church by the Rev. Austin Frye, the Rev. David Hunt and the Rev. Henry Thompson. Visitation will be 6:30-9 p.m. tonight at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Denton - Mrs. Annie Douglas Newsom, 70, died June 5, 2000.

Sarah Tate
Greensboro - Mrs. Sarah Jackson Tate, 70, of 2314 N. Church St. died June 3, 2000, at Moses Cone Hospital.
She was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Chatham County, a daughter of William and Victoria Brooks, who both preceded her in death. She retired from Evergreen Nursing Home and was a member of Jordan Grove Baptist Church. She married John T. Tate, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Hinson.
Surviving are a son, Vincent Jerome Jackson; a daughter, Joyce Jackson Ndumu of Wilmington, Del.; a brother, LeRoy Brooks of Siler City; three sisters, Nancy Searcy, Annie Ruth Brooks, Elizabeth Crenshaw, all of Greensboro; and nine grandchildren, Nanga'ah Aire Ndumu and Tamajong A. Ndumu, both of Wilmington, Del., Valencia Jackson, Vincent Jackson Jr., Alonzo Tate, Syretta Tate, Kaliah Hinson, Mohammad Hinson and Kareem Hinson, all of Greensboro.
Funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Power House Deliverance by Bishop W. L. Washington. Visitation will be noon Wednesday at the church and other times at the residence.

David Willard
High Point - David Gurney Willard Jr., 75, of Old Mill Road died June 4, 2000, at his vacation home in Southport.
He was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Greensboro, a son of David Gurney and Mabel Sullivan Willard, who both preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and a member of Eastchester Church of Christ. He was owner and operator of D.G. Willard Heating and Air Conditioning Co.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Hensley Willard of the residence; a daughter, Sharon Adkins and her husband, Jimmy, of High Point; a son, James 'Jim' Daniel Willard and his wife, Debra, of High Point; two grandchildren, Shannon Heath of Thomasville and Kim Adkins of High Point; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday at Eastchester Church of Christ.

High Point - Antoneo Baker, infant son of Fatimah A. Williams and Tony Baker, of 610 S. Elm St., died June 1, 2000.

Willowee Bridges
High Point - Willowee Dixon Bridges, 54, of 1705 E. Green Drive died June 4, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She was born Jan. 11, 1946, in Blenheim, S.C., a daughter of James Robert and Rosa Mae Dixon Brown, who preceded her in death. She was employed with Ferndale Middle School and was a member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church in South Carolina. She was a photographer, who loved to take photographs, enjoyed communicating with her family and friends also enjoyed catering to any and everyone. She was a graduate of Blenheim High School. She also was preceded in death by Mother Almatine Jenkins; two grandchildren, Demetrius D. Dixon and Larisha N. Pearson; and her grandparents, Dean and Leana Dixon.
Surviving are her husband, Leroy Bridges of the residence; two sons, Luther M. Dixon of Rockingham and Perry L. Dixon of High Point; two daughters, Patricia L. Dixon and Sandra F. Dixon, both of High Point; two stepdaughters, Wendy Bridges Armstrong of Winston-Salem and Stacy Bridges Carter of Newhaven, Conn.; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy E. Dixon; six brothers, James A. (Jean) Dixon of Latta, S.C., Frank D.(Betty) Dixon, David A. (Pat) Dixon, both of High Point, Alphonso (Mattie) Dixon of New Haven, Conn., Larry (Beatrice) Brown of Rockingham and James (Darnell) Brown of New York; six sisters, Christine D. (Harmon) Jackson of New York, Lena (Curtis) Burks of New York, Alice (Howard) Brown of Bennettsville, S.C., Queen E. Dixon of High Point, Barbara Dixon of High Point and Rosemary Brown of New York; seven grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two aunts, Jennie Sanders and Emma Jones of New York; eight brothers-in-law; 10 sisters-in-law; a goddaughter, Molly Faye W. Funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Temple Memorial Baptist Church by Pastor Larry Thornton. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at the church and other times at the residence.
