S. Hedrick Jr.
Darlington, S.C. - Sanford Matthew 'Buck' Hedrick Jr., 70, died June 5, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in China Grove, N.C., a son of Sanford M. Sr. and Thelma Louise Austin Hedrick, who both preceded him in death. He was owner and operator of Hedrick Trucking Co. and co-owner of A Touch of Time Antique Shop in Darlington. From 1952-1954 he served his country as a corporal in the 101st Airborne Counter-Intelligence Unit of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Thomasville Unity Methodist Church, the Greater Pee Dee Traffic Club of Florence, S.C., the local Teamster Union of Redding, Pa., and the Antique and Collectible Association.
Surviving are his wife, Sheila Ilene Leonard Hedrick of the residence; three sons, Ronald Thad Hedrick of Dallas, Ga., Rory Lyn Hedrick of Marietta, Ga., and Tony Wayne Hedrick of Darlington; two daughters, Sharon Skolimowski of Pleasant Garden, N.C., and Teresa Eaton of Florence; 11 grandchildren, Lynn Hedrick, Sanford Matthew Hedrick III, Josh Hedrick, Brian Hedrick, Neil Welborn, Tomarra Eaton, Chase Eaton, Thomas Hedrick, Joshua Hedrick, Victoria Jones and LeAnn Welborn; a brother, Robert C. Hedrick of Lexington, N.C.; and a sister, Martha H. Moore of Lexington.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at First Reform United Church of Christ, Lexington, N.C. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park, Lexington. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Belk Funeral Home and also at 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service and other times at the residence of Martha Moore, 17 Colonial Drive, Lexington.

Frances Johnson
High Point - Mrs. Frances Parris Johnson, 92, of 2714 Ingram Road died June 5, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born May 31, 1908, in Spartanburg, S.C., a daughter of James E. and Minnie Tapp Parris. She was a resident of High Point the majority of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Charity Baptist Church. She married Robah Dallas Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1988. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Velva Bryan, in April 2000.
Surviving are three daughters, Frances Agner of Trinity, Mildred Reece of High Point and Eyvonne Largen of Winston-Salem; a son, Dallas Leon Johnson of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Effie Parris of Grace Chapel; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Old Pathway Baptist Church by the Rev. Houston Tilley and the Rev. Archie Hardy. Burial will be in Bethany Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.
E. Kirkman
Mytle Beach, S.C. - Mrs. Edna S. Kirkman, 72, died June 4, 2000, at her residence.
He was born March 27, 1928, in Farmer, N.C., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duke Surratt, who both preceded her in death. She married Jack D. Kirkman, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Surviving are her son, Phil D. Kirkman of Myrtle Beach; a nephew, Don Essick of Asheboro; and a niece, Annette Ivey of Asheboro.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Murrells Inlet, S.C.

Lexington - Robert Thomas Leonard, 62, of W. 8th Avenue died at 10:55 p.m. June 5, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after declining health of two months.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Sybil Mock
Lexington - Mrs. Sybil Tatum Ellis Mock, 76, died June 5, 2000.
She was born May 5, 1924, in Statesville, a daughter of Harvey Lee and Ava Ann Bailey Ellis. Her family moved to Thomasville in the 1930s. She graduated in 1941 from Hasty High School in Davidson County. She was an auditor and bookkeeper for many years. She retired from Holiday Inn, Lexington, in the late 1970s as office manager and her husband Willis 'Bill' Mock Sr. was innkeeper. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville. She was preceded in death by her husband. She had many devoted friends.
Surviving are her stepson, Willis Mock Jr. and his wife, Margaret L., of Fredericksburg, Va.; a stepdaughter, Suzanne M. Jessup and her husband, Robert H. Jessup Sr., of Greensboro; four stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and four nieces and a nephew.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, by the Rev. Wilbur Jarrett. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery, High Point. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1932, in High Point, a son of Bennie and Eva Mae Alford Tyson, who both preceded him in death. He attended William Penn High School and served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division.
Surviving are his three daughters, Mrs. Sandra (James) Campbell Huntley, Miss Phyllis Alford Marsh of Thomasville and Mrs. Cynthia Renee Aughtry-Lindsay of High Point; a brother, Hubert Tyson of New York; nine grandchildren, Reggie Jefferson, Chad Alford, Brandon Alford, Brittany Marsh, Mia Campbell, Conchetta Alford, Tanya Aughtry, Michelle Aughtry and Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay; three great-grandchildren, Jada Aughtry-McInnis, Malik Peterson and Imon Pemberton; an aunt, Mrs. Lela Alford.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. J.W. Flake. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30-1 p.m. Friday at the church and other times at 509 Guilford Ave.

Lucille Dagenhart
Hickory - Mrs. Lucilla Charles Dagenhart, 80, of 331 8th N.E. #3, died June 7, 2000, at Hospice of Catawba Valley.
She was born Aug. 9, 2000, in St. Martin Dutch Antilles, a daughter of Abraham and Amelia Khoury Charles and lived in High Point since 1947. She was employed for 12 years with High Point Merchants Association prior to retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Newton and Aloysuis Catholic Church in Hickory. In 1953 she married Harvey Dagenhart, who preceded her in death in 1984.
Surviving are a son, Dennis Smith of Conover; a sister Elmosa Charles of the Commonwealth of Dominica of the West Indies; and a grandson, Robert Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church by Father Jack Kelly OSFS. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will be at Sechrest Funeral Home, E. Lexington Avenue. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Grover Dunn
High Point - Grover Lee Dunn, 79, of 224 Pine Ridge Drive died at 12:20 p.m. June 7, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after declining health of seven weeks.
He was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Belhaven, a son of Persy and Katie Lee Dunn. He was a resident of High Point since 1947. He retired as owner and operator of Lee-Morris Restaurant and was later associated with the Veterans Administration. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School in Belhaven and North Carolina State University. He was a mason and a member of the Acacia Lodge #674 A.F.&A.M.. He was a member of Emerywood Baptist Church. On June 26, 1948, he married Hazel Fowler, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a son, Grover Lee Dunn II of Richmond, Va.; a granddaughter, Ashley Stowell; and a great-granddaughter, Brooke Stowell.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. at Emerywood Baptist Church by the Rev. James E. Baucom. Entombment will be in Floral Garden Park Mausoleum with Masonic and military rites. The body will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
