Thomasville - Mrs. Melva Ree Cecil Byerly, 80, of 160 Brenda Drive died June 12, 2000, at Mt. Vista Nursing Center in Denton.

Inez Coggins
High Point - Mrs. Inez Caldwell Coggins, 82, of SunBridge of the Triad died June 11, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born July 31, 1917, in Asheville, a daughter of Alfred Shorter and Inez Elizabeth Ballard Caldwell. She retired as a salesperson from Sears Roebuck and Co. and was of the Presbyterian faith. She was an artist, an accomplished musician and a member of the Oratorical Society of Greensboro. In June, 1934, she married George M. Coggins Sr., who preceded her in death in 1961.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Coggins Compus of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, David John Coggins of Greensboro and George M. Coggins Jr. of Lexington; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, David Caldwell of Bristol, Tenn.
Graveside service will be noon Thursday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. George M. Coggins Jr.

Charles Cook Sr.
High Point - Charles Vernon Cook Sr., 82, of 701 S. Elm St. died at 8 p.m. June 11, 2000, at Britthaven of Davidson. He was in declining health for several years.
He was born June 30, 1917, in Yadkin County, a son of Abner Dewitt and Valley Brown Cook. He was a resident of High Point most of his life and retired from Kaylyn Furniture Co. He was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. On April 15, 1941, he married Mary Fountain, who survives of Britthaven of Davidson.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles Vernon Cook Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of 1819 Futrelle Drive and Kenneth Ray Cook and his wife, Carolyn, of 3627 Malibu Drive; a grandson, Jason Edward Cook; and two granddaughters, Daah Waldrop and Saunda Kinton.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. David Surratt and the Rev. David M. Emery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

Asheboro - Hal Turner Gallimore, 90, died June 11, 2000.

Wanda Harrison
Thomasville - Mrs. Wanda Ruth Witcher Harrison, 64 , of 111-B Bish Court died June 11, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 9, 1935, in High Point, a daughter of David Mack and Ruth Garrett Witcher. She was a homemaker and a member of White Plains United Methodist Church in Cary.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Harrison and his wife, Debbie, of Raleigh and Scott Harrison of Charlotte; a sister, Mrs. Brenda Morton of Albemarle; three brothers, Bobby Witcher of Thomasville, Donald and Randall Witcher, both of High Point; and two grandchildren, Lindsey Harrison and Leslie Harrison.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Lynn Gordon. The body will be at Sechrest Funeral Home, E. Lexington Avenue. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the residence of her son, Mark Harrison, 4120 Fowler Ridge Drive, Raleigh.
Joyce Hatfield
Archdale - Mrs. Joyce Ann Dobbins Hatfield, 56, of 603 Goodman St. died June 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 11, 1943, in Guilford County, a daughter of Willis William and Rachel Tyner Dobbins. She retired as a homemaker. On Dec. 3, 1979, she married Carl Hatfield, who survives of the Archdale.
Also surviving are a son, Michael Vance Hyder of Denton; her mother of Archdale; a stepdaughter, Brenda Mitchell of Goldsboro; a stepson, Ray Hyder of High Point; and two stepgrandsons.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Guilford Memorial Park by the Rev. Dick Tucker, chaplain of Hospice of the Piedmont. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Service, Archdale, and other times at the residence.

Andrew Hunt
Thomasville - Andrew Hunt, 58, of 261 Boggs Dairy Road died June 11, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born Dec. 15, 1941, in Robeson County, a son of Ervin and Carrie Wynn Hunt, who both preceded him in death. He was a former employee of Superior Heating and Air Conditioning. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. On Nov. 22, 1969, he married Miss Betty Locklear, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are three sons, Wayne Anthony Hunt of Lexington, Brian Keith Hunt of High Point and Tony Ray Abernathy of New Orleans; a sister, Mrs. Margie Hunt of Fairmont; and a brother, Donnie Hunt of Rowland.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Landmark Baptist Church by the Rev. Amos Mashburn. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Francis Karlick
Jonesville - Francis Thomas 'Tom' Karlick, 58, of 1008 Antler Run died June 10, 2000, at his residence.
He was born March 30, 1942, in Hazelton, Pa., a son of Thomas Francis and Mary Kanelly Karlick, who preceded him in death. He retired after serving his community as a deputy sheriff in Guilford County.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Karlick.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Karlick; a daughter, Yvonne Fannin of Greensboro; two sons, Frances Karlick Jr. and Richard Karlick, both of Greensboro; a sister, Cathleen Chace of Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren, Lauren Fannin, Kristen Fannin, Brandi Karlick, Zachary Karlick and Hannah Karlick; father- and mother-in-law, Randayu and Rose Harris of Jonesville; and many loving friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Stokesdale United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Jeffrey Kearney
Brooklyn - Jeffrey Kearney died June 9, 2000.
He was a born July 6, 1964, a son of Julius and Katherine Kearney.
Surviving is a special friend, Judy Hunter of Thomasville, N.C.
Funeral arrangements were made in Brooklyn.

Clemmons - Alfred 'Buck' Roosevelt Kiger, 68, of 8703 N. N.C. 150, died June 11, 2000.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the residence of a sister, Grace Tesh, 8649 N. N.C. 150 and after the service.
Lucy Melton
Randleman - Mrs. Lucy Peele Melton, 94, of 1661 Steed Rd., formerly of 1206 Bowen Drive, Archdale, died June 11, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Dec. 11, 1905, in Mt. Airy. She retired from Anvil Brand Inc. and was a member of Assembly of God in High Point. In 1929, she married Richard Lee Melton, who preceded her in death in 1951. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel Marie Young.
Surviving are a son, Calvin Melton of 332 Stratford Road, Archdale; two daughters, Mrs. Frances M. Russell of Randleman and Mrs. Doris Astley of Lincolnton; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Elliott Smith. Burial will be in Springfield Friends Meeting Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Frances M. Russell, 1661 Steed Road.
Flora Spencer
Archdale - Mrs. Flora Carmichael Spencer, 97, formerly of Marynard Drive, died at 2:26 p.m. June 11, 2000, at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center.
She was born April 19, 1903, in Davidson County, a daughter of John P. and Martha Moore Carmichael. She was a homemaker and a resident of the Archdale-Trinity area the majority of her life. She was a member of Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting. On April 15, 1922, she married James Robert Spencer, who preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1987. She also was preceded in death by her son, Harold Lee Spencer.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Irene) Farlow of 4185 Roy Farlow Road, Trinity, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Nooe of 506 Balfour Drive, Archdale, Mrs. Clyde (Betty) Small of Randleman, Mrs. Jack (Janice) Smith of Clemmons and Mrs. Raeford (Jeanette) Tucker of 108 Ashworth Court, Trinity; a son, Robert Junior Spencer and his wife, Doris, of 313 Eden Terrace, Archdale; a brother, T.R. Carmichael of Piedmont Christian Home; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Lohr and Mrs. Viola Rose, both of Beaufort, and Mrs. Stella Siler of Houston; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting by the Rev. Randal A. Quate and the Rev. Paul J. Dickinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, until placed in the meeting house 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Farlow.
