T.R. Carmichael
High Point - T.R. Carmichael, 94, formerly of Deep River Road, died July 1, 2000, in Sunbridge of the Triad in High Point.
He was born in Davidson County on Nov. 1, 1905, a son of John P. and Martha Jane Moore Carmichael. He had been a lifelong resident of High Point and retired from W.A. Davis Milling Co. in November, 1974, with 52 years of service. He later worked with the Greensboro Auto Auction for 15 years. He was a charter member of Montlieu Avenue United Methodist Church and the Ivey Fellowship Class. He served on several church boards. On Oct. 12, 1929, he married the former Mae Herman who preceded him in death Nov. 8, 1999.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn C. and Harold Coble of High Point; two sons and daughters-in-law, David L. and Bettie Carmichael of Raleigh and Roger S. and Linda Carmichael of Kernersville; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Lohr and Mrs. Viola Rose of Beaufort, N.C., and Mrs. Stella Siler of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in Montlieu Avenue United Methodist Church by Rev. Jim Martin Sr. and Rev. Nathan Snider. Entombment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation was 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Sechrest Funeral Service on E. Lexington Avenue.

Odell Haney
Thomasville - Odell Emerson Haney, 84, of 406 Griffith St. died July 1, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born May, 4, 1916, in Guilford County, a son of William Haney and Gertrude Proctor Haney. He was a lifelong resident of this area. He was employed with Highland Cotton Mill as long as his health permitted. He then opened Haney's Variety Store. He was of the Baptist faith. He was married to Rachel Tomlin Haney, who preceded him in death in January 1978.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Faye) Honeycutt of Franklinville, Dorothy Bradshaw and Carol Parrish, both of Thomasville; a son, Garland Haney, of the residence; a brother, Clyde, of High Point; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Ray Whittington. The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the residence.
Edgar Hawks
Thomasville - Edgar Woodrow Hawks, 60, of 205 Windy Hill Lane died July 2, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born March 20, 1940, in Fries, Va., a son of William Hawks and Della Funk Hawks. He was retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries' Plant C with over 26 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and of the Wesleyan faith.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Mrs. Margaret Haga Hawks of the residence; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Sheila) Rush of Archdale; two sons, Daniel Hawks of the residence and Allen Hawks and his wife, Lisa, of Lexington; his mother, Mrs. Della Hawks of Abbington, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Leo (Joyce) Wolfe of Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Jack (Jackie) Roberts of Abbington, Va., Joann Stuben of Thomasville and Mrs. Wade (Brenda) Humphreys of Norfolk, Va.; four brothers, Herbert Hawks of Moneta, Va., Duane Hawks of Copper Hill, Va., Bill Hawks of Covington, Va., and Gerald Hawks of Lexington; and four grandchildren, Danielle Hawks, Keaton Hawks, Kolton Hawks and Marley Rush.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. J.B. Cockman and the Rev.Gene Phillips. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the residence.

Grace Sink
Thomasville - Mrs. Grace Bowers Sink, 82, of 320 East Meadow Road died July 2, 2000, at 7 a.m. at her residence.
She was born May 2, 1918, in Davidson County, a daughter of June Harrison Bowers and Della Hinkle Bowers, who both preceded her in death. She was retired from Beverly Health Care and was a charter member of Greenwood Baptist Church. She was a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and a former G.A. teacher. She was also a former Adult Sunday School teacher at the church. She was married to Nolan Hill Sink, who preceded her in death April 22, 1987.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Hodgin of the residence; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Murphy of Thomasville; one brother, Gurlie Bowers of Thomasville; one grandson, Brian Hodgin and his wife, Pam, of Thomasville; and two great-grandsons, Ryan Lee Hodgin and Brandon Chase Hodgin, both of Thomasville.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Livengood. Burial will be in Calvary United Church of Christ Cemetery. Joyce Teague
High Point - Mrs. Joyce Mae Sapp Teague, 63, of 1167 Wallburg-High Point Road died July 2, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born May 29, 1937, in Davidson County, a daughter of Frank Cannon and Nonnie Joyce Johnson Sapp, who both preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of the Abbotts Creek Community and was a homemaker. She was most proud of her role in life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and daughter. She was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was married January, 29, 1954, to Mr. Robert Lee Teague, who survives of the home. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Tina Lee Teague.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Danny (Kathy) Shackelford of Archdale and Mrs. Robin Miller of Kernersville; one brother, Larry Sapp of Trinity; three grandchildren, D. Lee Shackelford and his wife, Alana, of Anderson, S.C., Clay Miller and Faith Miller, both of Kernersville; and a great-grandson, Hayden Lee Shackelford of Anderson, S.C.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Roy Cantrell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Winston-Salem - Larry Gayle Tow, 49, of Teague Road died July 2, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
He was born May 30, 1951, in Columbus County, a son of Loyd Calvin and Catherine Ward Tow. He was a 1969 graduate of Parkland High School and he attended Forsyth and Guilford Technical Community Colleges. He was employed by the city of High Point with 24 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Shellie Tow of the residence; sons, Joshua Sean Tow andLoyd Casey Tow, both of the residence and also at home is Joseph Tingler and Joe Loftus; his mother, Catherine Ward Tow of Winston-Salem; a sister, Janet Tow Webb and her husband, Sam, of Florida; a brother, C. Eugene Tow of Liberty; father and mother-in-law, Wilburn and Ruby Wooten; brother-in-law, Jim Wooten and his wife, Anna; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by the Rev. Barry Davis. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Fred Schultheiss
High Point - Fred Christopher Schultheiss, 85, of 1009 Tabor St. died July 7, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Aug. 18, 1914, in Guilford County, a son of Chris and Clara Betz Schultheiss. He was a lifelong resident of High Point, and owner and operator of several service stations. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class. On Nov.. 21, 1936, he married the former Ruth Jeanette Webb of Statesville, who preceded him in death Jan. 28, 1985.
Surviving are three sons, Gerald W. Schultheiss and his wife, Ruby, of Greensboro, Charles C. Schultheiss and his wife, Sally, of High Point and John F. Schultheiss and his wife, Tish, of Archdale; a sister, Anna Louise LaPrade of High Point; a brother, G.E. 'Pete' Schultheiss of High Point; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lebanon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Roland Jones. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
