Walter Pamplin

Walter Lewis Pamplin, 80, of 1502 Marblehead Court died Aug. 8, 2000, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington.
He was born March 26, 1920, in Greensboro, a son of Walter Marion and Blanche Gertrude Thomas Pamplin, who both preceded him in death. He retired as district manager of Piedmont Natural Gas. He was a long-time resident of Greensbor/High Point area prior to moving to Wilmington six years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the European Theater during World War II. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Pine Valley Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dora Anne Bowden Pamplin; two children of a previous marriage, Walter Lewis Pamplin Jr. of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Linda Pamplin Harwell and her husband, Larry, of Charlotte; four grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren. He was loved and will be missed by his wife's children: John and Hazel Gideon of Wilmington, Lynne Gideon of Greensboro, Kelly Gideon of Winston-Salem, Gail Gideon of Greensboro and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, N.C. 28401.

Ms. Jean Carol Richardson, 57, of 413 Martin Luther King Drive died Aug. 6, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
She was born in Davidson County, a daughter of James Richardson, Sr. and Carrie Cochrane Richardson. She was a lifelong resident of Thomasville and a 1961 graduate of Church Street School. She was employed with Sears Telemarketing Center, High Point. She was a member of Zion Tabernacle FBH Church, where she was a faithful member of the Senior Choir, assistant secretary for the Missionary and a treasurer of the Pastors Aide. She was preceded in death by her father, James Richardson Sr.; a brother, James Richardson Jr.; and a sister, Bernice Richardson.
Surviving are her mother of the residence; a sister, Mrs. Rebecca R. Maxwell and her husband, Samuel, of High Point; two brothers, Willie T. Richardson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Edward 'Cal' Richardson of Thomasville.
Funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at Zion Tabernacle FBH Church by Elder Marshall McCoy. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.

Gloria Chappell Carrick, 67, of Michael Drive died Aug. 7, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem from injuries received in an auto accident.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Treva F. Davis, 82, died Aug. 8, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare of Thomasville after six months of declining health.
She was born March 28, 1918, in Randolph County, a daughter of Dennis Levi and Pearl Maness Franklin. She was a housekeeper, homemaker and a member of Community Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Walter Davis and a brother, Sam Franklin. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother.
Surviving are a daughter, Lois Haynes and her husband, Horace, of Thomasville; two sons, Donald Ray Davis and his wife, Jean, of Archdale and Darrell Wayne Davis and his wife, Joyce, of Longs, S.C.; five sisters, Mrs. Dora Burney of Silver Valley, Miss Peggy Franklin, Mrs. Leatrice Wells and Mrs. Lena Kearns, all of Archdale, and Mrs. Earma Lee of High Point; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ty Thomas. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the family members' respective residences.

Mrs. Michelle Lynn Richardson Fleming, 29, of 6600 Tomball Road died Aug. 6, 2000, at her residence.
She was born June 25, 1971, in Guilford County, a daughter of Harold Wayne and Linda Mae Price Richardson. She was employed as an office manager with Hickory Bedding Inc. and was a member of Welch Memorial United Methodist Church. She was married to Jeffrey Dwayne Fleming.
Surviving are a daughter, Megan Elizabeth Fleming of the residence; her brother, Michael Wayne Richardson of Randleman; her parents of Randleman; her paternal grandparents, Harold and Helen Richardson of Randleman; and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary McDonald of Martinsville, Va.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sechrest Chapel, Archdale, by the Rev. Ralph Eanes. Burial will be in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Haynes Sr., 75, of 121 S. Hall St. died Aug. 8, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born June 1, 1925, in Guilford County, a son of John Marvin and Myrtle Swain Haynes, who both preceded him in death. He was a Guilford County native and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He retired from Adams Millis Hosiery Co. and was a member of West End Baptist Mission.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Edith Auman Haynes of the residence; a son, Clay Haynes Jr. and his wife, Deborah of Trinity; two grandchildren, Keith Haynes and his wife, Kathy, of Archdale and Chris Haynes and his wife, Lisa, of Winston-Salem; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Dylan, Taylor and Tyler Haynes; a sister, Loreen Jernigan and her husband, James, of Trinity; a niece Jan Jernigan of Trinity; a special nephew, Darryl Haynes and his wife, Kay, of Winston-Salem; and two special friends, Bruce and Jean Mosely of Canan, Va.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. Otis Collins and the Rev. Earl Hanks. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.

Mrs. Elizabeth Bradner Hutchins, 90, of Wesleyan Arms Inc. died at 3:15 P.m. Aug. 7, 2000.
She was born April 7, 1910, in High Point, a daughter of B.H. and Pearl Saunders Bradner. She was a lifelong resident of the High Point/Jamestown area. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for 75 years. She was a member of the Peacock Bible Class and taught in the nursery department for 25 years. She was very active in the Friendly Club of the church. She married Raymond R. Hutchins, who preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1980.
Surviving are a son, Raymond R. Hutchins Jr. of 1421 Heathcliff Road; two brothers, Howard and Roy Bradner, both of High Point; and two grandchildren, Raymond R. Hutchins III and Elizabeth H. Witter.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. C. Garland Young. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will be at Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point, until placed in the church chapel 30 minutes prior to the service.
