He was born July 23, 1948, in High Point, N.C. He graduated from Elon College in North Carolina, with a bachelor of arts degree in physical education. He was service operation manger for Aramark Corp. for three years. In 1970, he married Maureen H. McDaniel, who survives.
He coached for the Pasedena Chargers for more than 20 years. He served as president, board member and coach during this period. He was the model coach that all looked to emulate. He would always grab the new kids or those who were less talented and just pour himself into them. His happiest moments were when those kids did their best and helped the team as a whole. He did much to help all learn how to teach the kids, not just about football, but about life that no person will be able to replace. He will be missed greatly by the parents, children and coaches of the Pasadena Chargers. We love him and will never forget the love and patience he showered on all of us.
Also surviving are a son, Pete McDaniel of Annapolis, Md.; a daughter, Marni McDaniel of Pasadena; two brothers, Patrick McDaniel and Henry McDaniel, both of High Point; and four sisters, Claudette Thompson, Christin Wallace and Mary Kennedy, all of High Point, and Betty Culberth of Laurinburg, N.C.
