Ruby Gilbert Martin, 94, of 706 Fuller Mill Road died Aug. 27, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born June 9, 1906, in Randolph County, a son of Samuel Ezekiel and Dorcas Snider Martin. He was a carpenter and retired in 1985. He was a member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church. He married Foye Chisholm, who preceded him in death in 1975. On July 28, 1978, he married Allene Pierce Ritchie, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Martin Grimes of Oak Island; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jean Monley of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mrs. Dianne Gallimore of Archdale; a stepson, Larry Ritchie of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Randy Grimes of Welcome and Dawne Smith of Asheboro; four stepgrandchildren; and a brother, Ben Martin of Thomasville.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. at Carolina Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Stewart White and the Rev. Kenneth Miller. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will be at Family Funeral Care-Thomasville until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Millard Wrenn Prevette, 46, died Aug. 27, 2000.
He was born Jan. 16, 1954, in High Point, a son of Issac Hoyle and Geraldine Prevette, who both preceded him in death. He graduated from North Carolina State University and Columbia International Seminary. He was employed by Dove Electronic Components as a sales associate. He was involved in Christ Covenant's SOAR soccer program and was Christian education director at Joy Christian Fellowship.
Surviving are his wife, Rhonda Prevette; children, Hadley and Gracsyn both of Matthews; three sisters, Alicia Prevette Unrue of Abbeyville, S.C., Iris Carlton of Poway, Calif., and Kay Prevette-Detrick of Snow Camp; two brothers, Bruce Prevette and Prentiss Prevette of Raleigh.
Celebration of life service will be 7 tonight at Joy Christian Fellowship, 11516 Idlewild Road, Matthews.

Mrs. Christine 'Crissie' L. Bovender, a beloved friend to all who knew her, left this life to be with the Lord Aug. 28, 2000, after surgery in Community General Hospital. She was born Aug. 2, 1911, a daughter of John Irving and Nannie Crouse Lookabill, who both preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of Thomasville. On May 9, 1935, she married Reuben E. Bovender, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Unity United Methodist Church and served as treasure for several years. She was a member of the Women's Circle #1 and a former member of Hilton-Stone Bible Class. She loved her church. She also loved sewing and playing bridge. She remained active in all. She was employed 40 years beginning with Myrtle Desk Co. in High Point as a secretary and retired from Monark Furniture Co. Surviving are a son, and daughter-in-law, James Irving and Mary Elizabeth Bovender of York, Pa.; two grandsons, James Eugene Bovender and his wife, Amy L. Bovender and Joshua James Bovender; a great-granddaughter, Kylie Elizabeth Bovender;and a sister, Mrs. A. Kathleen Cheves of Lexington; and many neices, nephews and great-neices and great-nephews. Celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Unity United Methodist Church by the Rev. DeForest E. Hillyer Jr. and the Rev. Wilbur Jarrett. Burial will be beside her late husband in the church cemetery. The body will be at Family Funeral Care, Thomasville, until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Fred Norbit Fraylick, 93, of 407 Morton St., died Aug. 29, 2000, at his residence. He was born March 22, 1907, in Columbia, S.C., a son of William Frank and Janie A. Gray Fraylick, who both preceded him in death. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church. He was married to Annie Ruth Richey in February 1928, who preceded him in death in July 1978. On June 20, 1982, he married Emma Lou Bass, who survives of the residence. He also was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Connor of Belleville, Ill., and Mrs.. Mandy Mendenhall of Pensacola, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Kandye Matthews of Trinity; two stepsons, Ted Bass of Thomasville and Bill Bass of Rockville, Md.; a sister, Lillian Eddinger of Thomasville; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and 14 stepgreat-grandchildren. He married Mary Frances Hege Harwell, who preceded him in death. He was former owner of Tommy's Drive Inn. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and Balfour Lodge #188. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Ann Williams of Canal Fulton, Ohio; two sons, William O. Harwell of Asheboro and Douglas E. Burley Francis Hendrix, 91, of 3936 Fontainleau Drive died at 2 a.m. Aug. 25, 2000, at WoodBridge Nursing Home in Tampa, Fla. He was born Dec. 7, 1908, in High Point, N.C., a son of Van V. and Mary Magalene Phillips Hendrix. He married Earnestine Kennedy who preceded him in death July 29, 1994. He was of the Baptist faith. He owned and operated Hendrix Furniture Store on S. Wrenn St. in High Point from 1937 to 1950. He was golf champion for the city of High Point in 1950 and was an avid golfer until retirement. He represented Carsons of High Point in Florida for seven years. He later was in charge of sales for Orlando Upholstery and Manufacturing Co. for the state of Florida. He retired in 1985. Surviving are a son, Berkley F. Hendrix of 8325 Bay Ponte, Tampa, Fla. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point by the Rev. Melvin B. Anderson. The body will be at Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point, until the hour of service.

Mrs. Molly Cox Lawder, 58, died Aug. 27, 2000, at her residence. She was born April 10, 1942, in Winston-Salem, N.C., a daughter of Dr. Vernon Henderson Cox and Juanita Pratt Cox, who both preceded her in death. She attended Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C., and was a resident of Winston-Salem and High Point, N.C., prior to moving to New Orleans, where she was a resident for the past 8 years. She was active in many cultural activities involving music and the arts in both Winston-Salem and High Point. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Allen Lawder Jr. of New Orleans; two daughters, Elizabeth Lawder DeSantis and her husband, Vincent Paul DeSantis, of Kansas City, Mo., and Suzanne Lawder Corbin and her husband, George Lee Corbin III, of Winston-Salem; a grandson, George Lee Corbin IV; a sister, Nita Cox Bagnell of Suffolk, Va.; and a brother, Gordon Henderson Cox of Winston-Salem. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial will be private in the family plot at Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery. She was a resident of High Point and Jamestown, the majority of her life. She retired from Slane Hosiery Mill. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. On Feb. 5, 1937, she married Dewey Felton Patton, who preceded her in death Aug. 7, 2000. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Patton. Surviving are three sons, Dewey Lee Patton of High Point, David Neal Patton of Greensboro and Dale Robert Patton of Nashville, Tenn.; Four daughters, Mary Frances Robbins and Patricia Ann Burns, both of Jamestown, Sharon Elizabeth Johnson and Ollie Irene Galloway, both of High Point; a brother, Edgar Lee Dyer Jr. of Trinity; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Eliza Clyde Snider Reddeck, 89, of Piedmont Christian Home, formerly of 3116 Covewood St., died at 10:20 p.m. Aug. 28, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after declining health of several years. She was born Sept. 28, 1910, in Denton, a daughter of Neuma Edward and Ada Frank Snider. She was a graduate of Trinity High School and was a resident of this area the majority of her life. On July 12, 1930, she married Junior Ralph Reddeck, who preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1959. She was a former employee of Adams Millis Corp., Internal Revenue Service and retired from the Veteran's Administration in Winston-Salem. She was a member of Ward Street United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women and taught the Young People Sunday School Class for many years. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Preston Reddeck and two brothers, Glenn Snider and Excel Snider. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Gwen Janet Reddeck of 3116 Covewood St.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nancy Brawley Reddeck of High Point; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Denson, Mrs.. Jewel Schram and Mrs. Harold (Edna) Schram, all of High Point; a brother, N.E. Snider of Summerfield; two grandchildren, Keith Alan Reddeck and Kim Denise Reddeck; and two great-grandchildren.
