Willie Pete Morrison, 49, of 306 Garden Terrace died Sept. 1, 2000, at the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill.
He was born Nov. 14, 1950, in Surry County, a son of Lee Roy and Frances Stevens Morrison. He was last employed as a supervisor of Acme Delivery Service and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his mother of Mt. Airy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Yvonne and Wayne Cottrell of Currituck and Kim and Darrell Rorrer of Ararat, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy Leon and Barbara Morrison of Mt. Airy; two nephews, Roy L. Morrison Jr. of Mt. Airy and Wayne J. Cottrell II of Chapel Hill; and a special friend and companion, Brenda Smith of High Point.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, Mt. Airy, by the Rev. Jon Cawley. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Esther Barnes

Mrs. Esther Bryant Barnes, 89, of 2206 Edgewood Drive died Sept. 2, 2000, at her residence.
She was born May 11, 1911, in Dillon County, S.C., a daughter of James Washington and Arnettie Allen Bryant. She lived in High Point for 59 years and previously lived in Lumberton. She worked at High Point Regional Hospital and retired in 1974. She was a member of Ward Street United Methodist Church. On April 20, 1944, she married Everette James Barnes, who preceded her in death on July 13, 1976.
Surviving are one daughter, Orphia Louise Barnes of the home; two sons, Ray Donald Barnes and wife Judith of Archdale and James Wayne Barnes and wife Susan of Thomasville; one sister, Ruby Bryant Carter of High Point; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ward Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Abraham Kim and the Rev. Terry Kersey. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Sechrest Funeral Home in High Point.

Connie Ann Smith Moody, 49, of Golden Street died Sept. 2, 2000, at Community General Hospital in Thomasville after an illness of three weeks.
She was born April 16, 1951, in Davidson County, a daughter of Zollie Smith and Pauline Walker Smith. She was employed by Bojangles of Denton and was a member of Liberty Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death in 1995 by her father, Zollie Smith, and a brother, Ronald Smith.
Surviving are her husband, Jeffrey Moody of Asheboro; one son, Matthew Kelly of Atlanta; her mother and stepfather, Pauline Walker Coltrane and Edward Coltrane; one brother, Stephen Smith of Cleveland, Tenn.; one sister, Etta Morin of High Point.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Liberty Fellowship Church by the Rev. James Draughn and the Rev. David Riffe. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Briggs Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of the mother, 246 Bombay Road, Denton.

Mrs. Joan Ewart Schwenk, 60, of 1941-A Eastchester Drive died Sept. 2, 2000, at her home.
She was born May 24, 1940, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the daughter of Hugh Alan Ewart and Edith Stephens Ewart. She attended Elmira College and Albany Medical College in New York and Guilford College in Greensboro . She was a certified public accountant and was employed 23 years with Dixon Odom PLLC as the administrator. She was a member of American Business Women Association and a former member of High Point Junior Women's Club. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. On June 17, 1960, she married Gus Schwenk, and he survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Susan McKenzie and husband Alan of Arden and Mrs. Bettina Rogers and husband Joe of Greensboro; two grandsons, Reed McKenzie and John Rogers; one step-grandson, Tucker Rogers.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church by Dr. Glenn Busch. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Sechrest Funeral Home on E. Lexington Avenue.

Mrs. Marie Brewington Sinichak, 71, of 403 E. Farris Ave. died Aug. 29, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Sampson County, a daughter of Oscar and Nettie Maynard Brewington. Her husband, John Sinichak, preceded her in death in 1996, and a daughter, Theresa McDaniel, preceded her in death in 1973.
Surviving are one son, Anthony Sinichak of High Point; three daughters, Eleanor Watson of San Antonio, Texas, Carol Lackey and Mary Maudlin, both of High Point; three sisters, Lillie Carol Guinn of Lexington, Ky., Marguerite Brewington of Clinton and Hilda Gabrelli of E. Setucket, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service by the Rev. Bruce Hopper. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. National Cemetery in Salisbury. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Harry Moeckly

Harry Benedict Moeckly, 85, of 1526 Ann Arbor Court, died Sept. 2, 2000, at Wesleyan Arms Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Patterson, N.J., a son of Henry and Maglena Beislen Moeckly. He was a design engineer with Stull Engraving and had lived in the High Point area for the past 31 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Parker Moeckly, in 1992.
Surviving are three children, Billie Jones and Jon Moeckly, both of High Point, and Susan Weiss of Kernersville; two grandchildren, Robert Benjamin Leck and Devon Beebe; and a sister, Meta Rhoades of Lincoln, Calif.
A private service will be held at a later date in New Jersey. The family will receive friends tonight at the home of Billie Jones, 1517 Ann Arbor Ave.
