Kenneth Presley Cecil, 71, of Spring Oak Court died Sept. 14, 2000, at his residence.
He was born March 15, 1929, in Davidson County, a son of Stamey Lee Cecil Sr. and Florence Snider Cecil. He was an U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and retired from Flowers Baking Co. He was a member of Welch Memorial United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde and Ronald Cecil and Stamey Cecil Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara F. Cecil of the residence; two daughter, Dee Ann Pierce and her husband, Rick, of High Point and Lisa Cecil-Glenn and her husband, John, of High Point; a grandson, Noel Cecil; two granddaughters, Lauren Glenn and Anna Pierce; a great-grandson, Taylor Cecil; and a brother, Rowlin Cecil of Charlotte.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Welch Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Martin. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will be at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Mrs. Betty Lillian Hoover Hunt, 87, died Sept. 14, 2000, at Britthaven of Davidson.

Mrs. Zeffieree Crawford Hunter, 93, of 1841 Blain St. died Sept. 15, 2000, at her residence.

Joyce Isenhour

Mrs. Joyce Leigh Isenhour, 59, of 610 Colonial Drive died at 6:20 a.m. Sept. 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after a short illness.
She was born July 27, 1941, in Sumter, S.C., a daughter of A.T. Tisdale and Winifred Gibson Haskins. She was a resident of High Point since 1962 and was director of health services at High Point University from 1972 until her death. She cared for thousands of students through her 28 years of service as a registered nurse and head of student health services. An on campus memorial service will be scheduled for early October.
She was a graduate of the school of nursing of High Point Regional Hospital and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Raleigh. She loved crafts, painting, gardening, children and her neighborhood. On July 28, 1972, she married Billy Darrell Isenhour who survives of the residence. She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda D. Coleman.
Also surviving are two stepchildren; her mother, Mrs. Winifred G. Haskins of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Beverly (Frank) Sivak of Charlotte; and five nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, by the Rev. David M. Emery. Entombment will be in Floral Garden Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be at the residence.
Pallbearers will be Joe Oots, Rob Mancari, Rick Blake, Larry Deglandon, Frank Foster and Johnny McCarn.

Friendlys Lloyd

Mrs. Friendlys Moriah Harris Lloyd, 95, of 305 Julian Ave. died Sept. 14, 2000, at SunBridge For Lexington Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 8, 1905, in Randolph County, a daughter of Walter Raleigh Harris and Vircha Hammonds Harris who both preceded him in death. She retired from Ragan Knitting Mills and later worked with the Thomasville City Schools. She was a charter member of Thomasville Temperance League. She was a member of First Methodist Church, Circle #1, Myrtle Leonard Sunday School Class and a life member of the United Methodist Women. She was married to Carl Rufus Lloyd who preceded her in death March 1955. She also was preceded in death by a son, Walter Charles Lloyd, May 30, 1986.
Surviving are two daughters, Carlene Lloyd Campbell of Concord and Rita D. Lloyd of Trinity; eight grandchildren, Teresa Minton, Paul Campbell, Sue Jean Brody, Jane McClamrock, Arthur Campbell, Sherri Martin, Carin Hiott and Judy Stephens.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church by the Rev. R. Marsden Kitley OSL. Burial will be in Thomasville City Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the church chapel and other times at the residence of her daughter, Rita D. Lloyd, 634 Fuller Mill Road, Trinity, N.C. 27360.

Herbert Edward 'Ed' Overcash, 81, of 4236 Old Marlboro Road died at 2:45 a.m. Sept. 15, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born June 23, 1919, in Davidson County, a son of Lee and Mattie Moffit Overcash, who both preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran having served in the 493rd Bomb Group, the 861st Bomb Squadron and he was a prisoner of World War II. He retired from Classic Gallery. He was a member of Sophia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and also was past president of the Hillsville Civitan Club during 1984-1985. On Aug. 29, 1941, he married the former Ethel Beatrice Tysinger, who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by a son, Robie Overcash.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry Overcash and his wife, Donna, of Trinity and Michael Overcash and his wife, Diann, of Thomasville; two brothers, Hubert Overcash of Archdale and Clifford Overcash of Lexington; a sister, Audrey Hunt of Thomasville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sophia Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Barnes, the Rev. Chris Bennett and the Rev. Keith Carroll. Burial will be in Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery, Thomasville. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, and other times at the residence.

Robert Lee Taylor, 71, of 3 Friendly Acres Court, formerly of Reidsville, died Sept. 14, 2000, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Martha Caudle Boyd, 84, of 327 Montlieu Ave. died Sept. 15, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital. She had been in declining health during the last five years.
She was born in Anderson, S.C. on Nov. 23, 1915, a daughter to Victor E. Caudle and Pearl Scott Caudle. She married James Samuel Boyd on April 10, 1931, who preceded her in death April 28, 2000, after 68 years of marriage.
She retired as a supervisor from Crown Hosiery Mill in 1983 after 35 years. She moved to High Point in 1947 and had lived in the area for 53 years. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Boyd Williams of 613 Quaker Lane, High Point; one grandson, Jim D. Williams of High Point; one granddaughter, Vicki W. Lamb of Thomasville; seven great-grandchildren, Robert Williams, Abbie Lamb, Adam Lamb, Brittany Lamb, Justin Allen, April Dezio and Jennifer Allen; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cumby Family Funeral Service of High Point, Eastchester Drive Chapel by the Rev. Roland Jones and Steve Whitt. Entombment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today and other times at the home of the daughter.

William Cassidy

William Lawrence 'Buddy' Cassidy, 68, of 5791 N.C. Hwy. 62 died Sept. 16, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born May 12, 1932, in Cheraw, S.C., a son of Gralon and Ethel Mae Huggins Cassidy. He was employed by Leggett and Platt Inc. as a plant supervisor, retiring in 1991. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Trindale Baptist Church and the Friendly Encouragers Sunday School Class.
On Oct. 9, 1960, he was married to the former Rusaline Briles, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are one daughter, Pam Marshburn and husband, Jamey, of Trinity; two sisters, Mrs. Gloria Pope of Thomasville and Mrs. Jean Shepard of Aberdeen; and one granddaughter, Miss Chelley Marshburn.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Russell Marshburn.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Family Funeral Care Chapel by the Rev. David Williams. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Calvin 'Doc' Monroe Flynn, 91, a resident of 998 Shady Grove Church Road died Sept. 16, 2000, at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1909 in Guilford County, a son of the late Turner Flynn and Ardenia Angel Flynn. He was a retired employee with Adam-Millis, Inc. of High Point.
On Oct. 16, 1937, he was married to Mabel Cecil, who preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 1991.
Surviving are four daughters, Miss Mary Flynn of the home, Mrs. John (Bonnie) Powers of the home, Mrs. Phillip (Frances) Brown of Archdale and Mrs. Larry (Betty) Rierson of Winston-Salem; one son, Jimmy Flynn of Trinity; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Steele of Coconut Creek, Fla.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spring Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hubert Brown, the Rev. Danny Smith and the Rev. Wilbur A. Jarr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and other times at the home.

Tony A. Gilchrist, 57, a resident of High Point died Sept. 15, 2000, at the High Point Regional Hospital following several years of declining health.
He was born in High Point on July 14, 1943, a son of Reuben and Mageline Oates Gilchrist. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed as a welder prior to his illness. He was a loving husband and a big prankster.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Cross Gilchrist of the home; two sons, Timothy Allen Gilchrist of Greensboro and Michael Scott Gilchrist of Hickory; one sister, Sharon Turner of Thomasville; and two grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will follow the service until 8:30 p.m., and other times at the residence.
