Eddie Dean Queen, 41, of 4175 Stone Creek, formerly of High Point, died Sept. 17, 2000, at Grace Hospital in Morganton.
He was born Jan. 4, 1959, in Guilford County, a son of Edgar and Mable McNell Queen. He was a resident of Valdese for the past seven years and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his father in November 1994.
Surviving are his mother of High Point; a sister, Bonnie Sue Fields of Winston-Salem; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Allendale Baptist Church, High Point, by the Rev. David Perry, the Rev. Bobby Metters and the Rev. David Younger. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, and other times at the residence of his mother, 911 Mill St., High Point.
John Schoonover

John Winchester Schoonover, 79, of 104 Armstrong Lane died Sept. 14, at Beverly Healthcare of Greensboro.
He was born Oct. 19, 1921 in Louisville, Ky., a son of Herbert Eldredge Schoonover and Mary Lawrence Winchester Schoonover. He was a U.S. Army veteran and attained the rank of captain. He was first married to Sara Prinze and latter married Evelyn Marie Scott on Dec. 26, 1961, who survives. He was a resident of Archdale since 1983.
He was a member of the board of Archdale Public Library. He helped the library move to a new facility and greatly expanded the collection. He also was president of the High Point chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He helped lead the struggle for the repeal of taxation on federal pensions. He was recently honored as a lifetime member of the Greensboro Bird Club.
Surviving are a son, John Lodge Schoonover of Paris, France; and a daughter, Sara Winchester Schoonover White of Greensboro.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Mildred Weeks Shannonhouse, 74, died Sept. 17, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Bennettsville, S.C. She retired from the Randolph County School System and was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol Mukherjee and her husband, Dr. Gopen Mukherjee, of Kissimmee, Fla., Kathy Isaacs and her husband, Bobby, of Monroe, Pamela Anne Shannonhouse of Winston-Salem; two sons, Harry Wesley Shannonhouse Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Kernersville and Don Shannonhouse and his wife, Lori, of Kissimmee; 11 grandchildren, Lara and Erica Shannonhouse, Gourav, Tuli, Gitali and Rajen Mukherjee, Kristy and Brandy Isaacs, Samantha and Emily Shannonhouse and Rodney Hill; a sister, Roberta Bryant of Rockingham; two brothers, Harry Weeks of Greenville, S.C., and Jake Covington of Hamlet.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Konnoak Baptist Church by the Rev. Gary McCollough. Burial will be in Haywood Family Cemetery, Rockingham. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

Kenneth White

Kenneth Robert White, 65, of 3409 Pine Valley Road, died Sept. 16, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Oct. 31, 1934, in High Point, a son of W.L. and Mattie Jane Reid White. He retired from the High Point Fire Department and worked with Prudential Reality. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the High Point Elks Lodge and Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church. On Sept. 8, 1956, he married Bobbie Allred, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cheryl White Crosby and husband, Robert, of Chapin, S.C.; a son, Kenneth Scott White and his wife, Jeanette, of High Point; his father of High Point; a brother, Calvin White and his wife, Ginny, of High Point; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Thomas and her husband, Jack, of Morganton, Mrs. Nancy White and her husband, Alan, of High Point, Mrs. Sandra Honeycutt and her husband, Don, of Little River, S.C.; five grandchildren, Benjamin Bryan Crosby, Sean Robert Crosby, Brittany Reid Crosby, Marissa Mae White and Alexander Scott White.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. today at Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church by the Rev. D. Bruce Hopper. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will be at Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point, until placed in the church.
Pallbearers will be C.R. 'Jack' Thomas, Jerry Hedgecock, Gary Fulk, Charles Lovelace, Ken Norman and Mike Allred.

Robert E. Holland, 68, formerly of High Point, died Sept. 15, 2000.
He was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Bartow, Fla. He was a graduate of the University of Florida where he received a master's degree in science. He was a faithful Gator fan. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a first lieutenant with the 2nd Armored Division. He was employed for 34 years with Ciba-Geigy Agricultural Chemicals.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda MacDonald Holland of Anna Maria; a son, Rob Holland and his wife, Angie, of Gainesville, Fla.; two daughters, Heather Sykes and her husband, Will, of Bradenton, Fla., and Kenzie Cheek and her husband, Andrew, of Bradenton; a grandson, Robert Jackson Cheek of Bradenton; two sisters, Dorothy Ann McElvey of Winter Haven, Fla., and Nancy Davies of Ft. Lauderdale; and his 'special girls,' Annie, Maggie and Sadie Mae Cheek.

Surviving are his parents of High Point; a brother, Aaron Wayne McKinney of High Point; a sister, Larkiesha Marshawn McKinney; two nephews, Aaron McKinney Jr. and Ados McKinney; nine aunts, Diane Sator, Renee (Eddie) Torrence, Kim Burrell Smith, Rosa Medley, and Brunea Pinson, all of High Point, Darlene (John) Jackson of Atlanta, Edith Pendergrass and Maureen (Melvin) Hyatte of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Armintha (Moses) Ware of Martinsville, Va.; and three uncles, Anthony W. Steve A. Williams, 29, of Arbrook Lane died Sept. 17, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1971, in Wurzburg, Germany, a son of Robert Fredrick Williams Sr. and Bonnie Haire Williams. He attended the First Wesleyan Church. He graduated from Dalfort Tech in Dallas, Texas, with an associate's degree in airplane mechanics. He was employed as a roofer prior to his disability in 1996. He was a special son and a loving father, brother and uncle who was a good hearted person that would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Haire.
Surviving are his parents of High Point; his fiancee', Sharon Schneider, of High Point; three daughters, Brittany and Kimberly 'My Little Princess' Williams of High Point and Courtney Williams of Asheboro; a stepson, Joey Schneider, of High Point; a sister, Angalena Hutchens and her husband, Erik, of High Point; a brother, Robert Fredrick Williams Jr.; two nieces, Brandi Williams and Lyndsai Williams of High Point; and a nephew, Nicholas Hutchens of High Point.
