James E. Emberland, 53, of Kernersville, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 20, 2000, while working in Toronto, Canada.
He was born Feb. 17, 1947, and was raised on a farm in Willmar, Minn. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving four years in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed by Timesavers, Inc. of Minneapolis, Minn., for the past 28 years.
His loving family includes his wife and best friend, Karen; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Trisha; his mother, Eleanor, of Willmar, Minn.; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Sandy, Gayle and Beverly, Wayne and Lynette, Donald and Mary, and Richard; one sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Mike Vosika; mother-in-law, Sylvia Cassidy; and two brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Roger Turner. He also had a special affection for John Deere and Harley Davidson.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be arranged by Peterson's Funeral Home of Willmar, Minn.

Mrs. Isabella Winborne Kepley, 81, of Allred Road in Lexington, died Oct. 19, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Beck's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Martha Ray Grayson Leonard, 59, of Arbor Drive in Lexington, died Oct. 21, 2000, in her home.

William Riley Mason Jr., 79, of 228 Idlewood St. in Lexington, died suddenly at his home on Oct. 20, 2000.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

Mrs. Vada Patrick Matz, 92, of Archdale died Oct. 20, 2000.
Surviving are five sons, three daughters, including Nora Lea West of Archdale, one brother, one sister, 36 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel in West Jefferson by the Rev. Darrell Graybeal. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Creston. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Savion Jie Miller, infant son of Rodney Miller and Kimberly Baker, died Oct. 19, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 12, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He is survived by his parents; one brother, Charles 'Chip' Dillard of the home; two step-brothers, Rodney Miller Jr. of Maryland and Jason Cobb of High Point; two step-sisters, Donnitha Miller and Kiearra Miller, both of Maryland; maternal grandparents Jessie and Wendell Baker of High Point; maternal grandmother, Jane Thomas of High Point; and his godmother, Carol Patterson of Suitland, Md.
Funeral service will be noon Monday at Carolina Biblical Gardens by Pastor George Steele. The family will receive friends at 1042 Montlieu Ave.

Mrs. Ellenise Frazier Nifong, 54, died Oct. 21, 2000, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
She was born Dec. 19, 1945, in Guilford County to T.D. and Mary C. Frazier. She was preceded in her death by her husband, Jerry Nifong, her father, T.D. Frazier, and a brother, Harold Frazier.
She is survived by her husband, Mark, of Asheboro; her daughter, Angela Nifong Woodruff, of Asheboro; her mother, Mary C. Frazier, of Greensboro; four brothers, Bill Frazier and Richard Frazier, both of Greensboro, Jerry Frazier of High Point, and Ronald Frazier of Thomasville; and her sister, Virginia Thompson, of Greensboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Community Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Willard Sadler

Willard Brock 'Tex' Sadler, 80, of 3405 Pine Valley Road, died Oct. 21, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born March 16, 1920, in Troup, Texas, the son of Obie Brisco Sadler and Mary Irene Lindsey Sadler. He retired in July 1982 from Lyles Chevrolet after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Pauline Sims, and a brother, Obie Joe Sadler. He was first married June 30, 1945, to Lois Virginia Hunsucker and she preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 1993. On Sept. 14, 1995, he married Ola Wagner and she survives of the home.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Sharon Sue Brown of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons, James Willard Sadler and wife Pamela of High Point and Darrell Ray Sadler and wife Jana of Stoneville; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Jean Sparkman of Baumont, Texas, and Mrs. Ruth Carey of Jacksonville, Texas; two brothers, R.A. Sadler of Midland, Texas and H.S. Sadler of Henderson, Texas; three grandchildren, Erin Brown, Dennis Brock Sadler and Mrs. Venus Dawn Chapman; two great-grandchildren, Madison Brooke Sadler and Jake Ryan Sadler.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sechrest Chapel on E. Lexington Avenue by the Rev. Gene Phillips. Interment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Mr. Sadler will remain at Sechrest Funeral Home and the family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-8:30 tonight.

Leon Harry Schwartz, 67, died Oct. 20, 2000, in the Blumenthal Jewish Home for the Aged in Greensboro.
He was born in Detroit on June 20, 1933, a son to Morris and Esther S. Schwartz. He had lived in Greensboro since April 2000 and previously in Charlotte since 1974. He had moved to Charlotte from Toledo, Ohio. He was CEO of the Matrix Group and was a founding member of the International Merger and Acquisitions Professionals. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of many other professional organizations. He was past president of the Temple Beth Shalom in Charlotte and was a volunteer for many years with the Charlotte Repertoire Company.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Selma S. Schwartz of High Point; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly and Bill Richardson of High Point and Lisa and Brad Grossman of Charleston, S.C.; one son, Kevin Schwartz of Nags Head; one brother, Jack Schwartz of Toledo, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Hebrew Cemetery in High Point by Rabbi Jerome Fox.

Betty Smith

Mrs. Betty Ann Smith, 63, of 105 Sandra Drive, Jamestown, died Oct. 21, 2000, at her residence. She had been in declining health for three years.
She was born June 19, 1937, in Ashe County, a daughter of Everett and Lena Clewis Smith and had lived in Jamestown most of her life. She had worked for Oakdale Cotton Mill and was of the Holiness faith. She was married to James Delmas Smith June 9, 1951, and he died in May 1977.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Helen) Cowart of Archdale, and Mrs. Wanda Whipple of Jamestown; a son, Gary Smith of Thomasville; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Hester and Mrs. Judy Pate, both of Bladenboro; a brother, Dennis Smith of Bladenboro; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She will be sent to Whiteville where the funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in McKenzie Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery in Longwood. The family will receive friends at McKenzie Funeral Home Monday from 7-9 p.m.

Bert Bishop

Bert J. Bishop, 72, of 820 James Road, died Oct. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1928, in Bishop, Md., to Bertram O. and Emma Mossholder Bishop. He was a native of Akron, Ohio, but had lived in High Point since 1974. He was a former plant manager at Fli-Back Co. in High Point and retired as plant manager at Atco Rubber Products in Greensboro. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Oakview United Methodist Church. He was married to Nancy Bishop, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving is a daughter, Cathy Bishop of Asheville and two sons, Brad Bishop and his wife, Naly, of Las Cruces, N.M., and Greg Bishop and Cynthia Jones of Denver, Co.
Services will be private.

Glenn Dines Sr., 70, of 1454 Kingsway Dr., died Oct. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 29, 1930 in Rembert, S.C., to James Guy and Mary Brown Dines. He was a retired employee of Alma Desk and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nellie Cole, and a brother, James Dines Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Easterling Dines; six sons, Glenn Dines Jr., Ricky Dines, Nick Dines, Guy Dines, Alexander Easterling and James Holloway; three daughters, Ms. Mammie Dines, Ms. Dorothy Dines and Mrs. Christina Hayes; three sisters, Ms. Dinah Dines, Mrs. Evellee Rivers and Mrs. Annie Alsbrooks; his uncle, Moses Brown; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. F.L. Andrews. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hargett-Gilmore Memorial Chapel tonight from 7:30-8:30 and other times at the home. Hargett-Gilmore Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Sally Livengood

Mrs. Sally Louise Royals Livengood, 82, resident of 1425 Heathcliff Road, died Oct. 21, 2000, in High Point Regional Hospital following a short illness.
She was born Aug. 24, 1918, in Randolph County, a daughter of Robert Bagby and Sallie Varner Royals. She had been a resident of High Point and Trinity most of her life and attended Elon College. She was a retired legal secretary for the law firm Haworth, Riggs, Kuhn and Haworth. She was former president of the High Point Legal Secretaries Association and was a past recipient of the Secretary of the Year award for the state of North Carolina. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ where she had been active in circle and other church-related activities. On March 23, 1940, she was married to William Clifton Livengood, who preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Royals, and three sisters, Ruth McKenzie, Alice Thomas and Mary Wood.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Lauren) Iacono of New Jersey; two sons, William Robert Livengood and his wife, Brenda, of Summerfield, and Thomas Stuart Livengood and his wife, Jean, of Colfax; two brothers, Van Royals of 407 Eden Terrace, Archdale, and Guy Royals of 212 Ashland Street, Archdale; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday from the First Reformed United Church of Christ by the Rev. Donald L. Stevenson. Interment will follow in the Trinity Cemetery. The body will remain at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Wesley Norris

Wesley Norris, 79, of 10121/2 Asheboro St., died Oct. 21, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1921, in Horry County, S.C. to Eddie and Flara Mae Soles Norris. He had been employed by Henredon Furniture Industries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Edgar Norris, Henry Norris, Charlie Norris and William T. Norris, and a sister, Loraine Greenwood. On July 5, 1970, he was married to the former Frances Marie Boswell, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Ann Lewallen of Archdale and Lounette Bridgman of High Point; two stepsons, William Carlyle Hewett of Florida and Dewey Garland Hewett Jr. of High Point; a brother, Jack Norris of Tabor City; four sisters, Emma Ard of Thomasville, Ruby Bodiford and Eula Long of Nakina, N.C., and Essie Thompson of Tabor City; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. Doug Byrd. Interment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Brian Cobb, 15, of 519 N. Centennial Street, died Oct. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Oct. 30, 1984, in High Point, a son of John W. Zimmerman Jr. and Mary B. Cobb, who both survive. He was preceded in death by three great-grandmothers, Nancy Stuckey, Sarah Rogers and Katie Zimmerman; an aunt, Linda Zimmerman; an uncle, Joseph Cobb Jr.; and great-grandfather, Dean Zimmerman.
Also surviving are two brothers, John W. Cobb III and Jamye S. Stanback; a sister, Miss Nakisha N. Cobb; two god sisters, Andrea L. Jackson and Lekuria D. Currie; four grandparents, Mrs. Sadie Cobb, Joe Cobb, Nancy and John W. Zimmerman Jr.; special friends, Gregory Little, Carol Little, Marshon D. Hoy and Melanen Upchurch; special cousin, his 'Lil Dukes'; and other relatives and friends.
