Charles Rudolph Cook, 84, of Earlie Hedrick Road died at 7:38 p.m. Oct. 30, 2000, at Community General Hospital after declining health of two years.
He was born Sept. 13, 1916, in Davidson County, a son of Charles Ernest Cook and Winnie Conrad Cook. He was a member of Beck's United Church of Christ. He retired from Lexington Furniture and Henry Link. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. He was married to Gaynelle Foster Cook, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Charles Cook and his wife, Janice, of Thomasville; a daughter, Sherry Hedrick and her husband, Ervin, of Lexington; three grandchildren; Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey (Angela) Thompson, Alison Cook and Adam Cook, all of Lexington; two brothers, John Cook and Ernest Cook, both of Lexington; and two sisters, Lola Money of Lexington and Nell Musgrave of Lakeland, Fla.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Beck's United Church of Christ by the Rev. Edward Rawls, the Rev. Dan Money and the Rev. Banks Sheppard. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, 289 Earlie Hedrick Road.

James P. 'J.P.' Crews, 75, of 6728 Brookbank Road died Oct. 30, 2000, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Kernersville. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during World War II, and was a retired pipe fitter. He attended Union Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas L. Crews Jr.
Surviving are his three daughters, Lana Stafford of Thomasville, Sharon Scarbrough of Greensboro and Kelly Larrimore of Kernersville; three sons, Barry L. Crews of Oak Ridge, Timothy G. Crews of Greensboro and Buzz Crews of Kernersville; a sister, Betty Crews McGee of Kernersville; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Forbis and Dick, North Elm Street Chapel. Visitation will be after the memorial service until 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

David Charles Jarrell, 60, of 2494 Old Farmer Road died Oct. 31, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was a native of Randolph County. He was married to Patricia Jarrell, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Rich of Asheboro and Jeannie Blanchard of Thomasville; three sons, Lloyd Jarrel and Johnny Jarrell, both of Randleman, and Brian Jarrell of Asheboro; four sisters, Fayedean Isom of Asheboro, Norma Garner of Denton, Becky Hughes and Ophelia Gasey, both of Asheboro; three brothers, Cecil Jarrell of High Point, Donald Jarrell and Mike Rollins, both of Asheboro; and nine grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in West Bend United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Routh. Visitation will be 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home.

David Junior McFadden, 61, of 605 Willoubar Terrace died Oct. 31, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after 29 days of hospitalization.
He was born April 17, 1939, in Summerton, S.C., a son of Joe Briggs and Lucille MCFadden. He resided in New York and New Jersey and was formerly employed in those areas as a glass glazer with International Brotherhood of Painters & Allied Trades for more than 27 years prior to retiring and relocating in High Point. He attended Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Billie Sue Whittenburg McFadden of the residence; a son, Lorenzo McFadden of Miami, Fla.; a daughter, Gwendolyn Hester of Miami; a stepdaughter, Ruby Miranda Davis and her husband, Thomas, of High Point; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Lucille Briggs, of Summerton; two brothers, John Edward (Blanche) McFadden and Moses (Arlene) Briggs, all of Summerton, S.C.; five sisters, Lila Mae Greene, Josephine Briggs, Carolyn (Pedro) Briggs, Juanita (Jerry) Briggs and Helen Briggs, all of Booklyn, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law, Alice Whittenburg, Beatrice McClure, both of High Point, and Maggie (Edward) Littlejohn of Gaffney, S.C.; four aunts, Dinah Montgomery and Runett Edwards, both of Summerton, S.C. and Queen Holliday and Dolly McFadden, both of Brooklyn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relative and friends.
Visitation will be 9-6 p.m. Thursday at Haizlip Funeral Home. After visitation, the body will be sent to Summerton Funeral Service, 111 S. Duke St., Summerton, where final services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pearl Basinger Williamson Rabon, 84, of 305 Lawing Drive, formerly of Hinkle Street, died Oct. 31, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
She was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Davidson County, a daughter of Richard Stokes Basinger and Etta Everhart Basinger, who both preceded her in death. She retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries. She was a member of East Davidson Baptist Church. In 1958, she was married to Harlie Richard Rabon, who preceded her in death Sept. 9, 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Louise) Marsh of Thomasville; two sons, Jimmy Baxter Williamson and Terry Lynn Williamson, both of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Shane MacLeod, Todd Marsh, Christa Williamson and Preston Williamson; and a great-granddaughter, Skyler MacLeod.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. Tony Horne and the Rev. Ben K. Shepherd. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Louise Marsh, 305 Lawing Drive.

Ms. Birddie Coltrane White, 72, of 6714 Muddy Creek Road died Oct. 30, 2000, after a period of declining health.
She was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Randolph County, a daughter of Vester L. and Pearl Marsh Coltrane. She was a retired homemaker. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class.
Surviving are three daughters, Ms. Frances Holland of Jamestown, Cathey White Weatherford and her husband, Stephen, of Archdale and Patti White Housand and her husband, Joe Jr., of Archdale; a son, David 'Sonny' White Jr. and his wife, Ramona, of Archdale; three sisters, Helen C. Shaw and her husband, Bill, of Greensboro, Esther Mashburn and her husband, Dwight, of King and Betty C. Weaver and her husband, Gene, of Archdale; two brothers, R.V. Coltrane and his wife, Phyllis, of Archdale and Lewis Coltrane and his wife, Claudia, of Archdale; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
