Dewey Lee McPherson, 53, of Canterbury Road, High Point, died Nov. 8, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Scotland County, a son of Willie and Ethel Watson McPherson. He was owner and operator of DLM Inc., 'Country BBQ' in High Point.
Surviving are two daughters, Staci McPherson of Lexington and Shea McPherson of High Point; a granddaughter, Liliana Martin, daughter of Kevin Martin and Shea; his faithful companion, Diane Riddle; his father of Lexington; five brothers, Grady McPherson and William McPherson, both of Lexington, John McPherson of Archdale, Tony McPherson of Thomasville and Jerome McPherson of Trinity; and two sisters, Patsy Everhart of Lexington and Shirley Koenig of Liberty.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel by the Rev. Rosser Clapp. Burial will be in Pilgrim Reformed United Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Tony McPherson, 4050 Old U.S. 29, Thomasville.

Mrs. Louise Britton Manning, 75, of 2465 Marsh Mountain Road died Nov. 8, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 29, 1925, in Halifax County, a daughter of Lloyd Ray and Mabel Shaw Britton. She had been a resident of Sophia since 1973 and attended Trinity Holiness Church. She retired from Caraway Furniture and was a former volunteer at High Point Care Center. On Sept. 12, 1942, she was married to Leo Manning, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are three children, Bill Manning and his wife, Sunny, of Louisville, Tenn., Shirley Dale Roberson and her husband, the Rev. Mark Roberson, of Durham and Claye Manning and his wife, Sondra, of Lexington, S.C.; three sisters, Lula Martin of Roanoke Rapids, Annie Rook of High Point and Marie Hall of Emporia, Va.; a brother, Martin Ray Britton of Roanoke Rapids; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Arthur Swaney and the Rev. Mark Roberson. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Paul Russell Raymer, 89, of 1526 New Cut Road, Lexington, died at 4:05 p.m. at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
He was born March 4, 1911, in Bedford, Pa., a son of Edgar and Laura Heironimus Raymer. He moved here from Lexington, Ky., where he was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. He was a retired electronics technician and was previously employed with the civil service as a radar technician. He was married to Opal B. Houston, who preceded him in death Sept. 25, 2000.
Surviving are a brother, Chester Raymer, and his wife, Gwen, of New Cut Road.
Memorial service will be 6 p.m. today at Family Funeral Care Chapel, by the Rev. E. Keith Carroll and the Rev. Carroll M. Upton. Visitation will be tonight after the service.

Mrs. Ninnie Webb Carter Redwine, 76, of Liberty Wood Nursing Home, formerly of 14 Goforth Drive, died Nov. 8, 2000, at the nursing center.
She was born May 29, 1925, in Wesborne County, Tenn., a daughter of William Frank Webb and Lelar Pelfrey Webb, who both preceded her in death. She was a retired employee with Maro Hosiery of Thomasville. She was of the Baptist faith and formerly attended Friendly Gospel Freewill Baptist Church. She was twice married, first to Willie Wesley Carter and later to William Reid Redwine, who both preceded her in death.
Surviving are five daughters, Ms. Anna Marie Sanders of Silver Valley Community, Lexington, Mrs. Bobby (Helen) Cox and Mrs. Wilma Jean Loden, both of Thomasville, Mrs. Odell (Linda) Carver of the residence and Mrs. Kenneth (Julia) Simmons of Texas; four sons, William W. Carter Jr. of Sophia, Anthony 'Tony' Carter of Lexington, and Dallas R. Redwine and Jerry D. Redwine, both of Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Webb Smith of Crossville, Tenn.; three brothers, Retired Master Sgt. U.S. Army, Winfred E. Webb of Rookwood, Tenn., Retired Master Sgt. U.S. Army, 1st Class Fritz A. Webb of Nolanville, Texas, and Kenneth R. Webb of Winston-Salem; a half sister, Ms. Judy Johnson of McMenville, Tenn.; a half brother, Jimmy Webb of Georgia; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bilbrey Funeral Home Chapel, Crossville, Tenn., by the Rev. Junior Masters. Burial will be in Haleys Grove Cemetery, Crab Orchard, Tenn. The body will be placed in Bilbrey Funeral Home Friday this morning. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Bilbrey Funeral Home and prior to and after funeral service Saturday, and other times at the residence.

John Bradburn Riley, 63, of 221 Pinewoods Road went to be with the Lord Nov. 9, 2000, after a period of declining health.
He was born Nov. 6, 1937, in Flint, Mich., a son of Wayne and Maxine Shannon Riley. He attended Western Michigan University and was owner of PIP Printing in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He previously was involved with auto racing, a sport he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Woodruff.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Marie Riley of Wilmington; two sons, Stephen John Riley and his fianc'e, Jackie Ward, of Thomasville and Brett Clark Riley of Wilmington; a stepson, Brian Seagers of Charlotte; his stepmother, Mary Riley of Beulah, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Dewayna, Mitch and Joey.
Memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Sechrest Chapel, Archdale, by Ronnie McKinney. Visitation will be 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Lloyd Enos Canoy Sr., 70, of 6090 Flint Hill Road died Nov. 10, 2000, at Duke University Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Randolph County, a son of Devie Worth and Winnifred Spencer Canoy. In 1955, he was married to Luisa Troncone of Naples, Italy. In 1948, he graduated from Trinity High School and joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Sea Bees and retired as a chief petty officer. He was a member of Flint Hill United Church of Christ. He was honored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon as the state’s “1994 Personal Achievement Award” winner. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Shelby Canoy, D.W. Canoy Jr., Troy Canoy and Jerry Canoy.
Surviving are his wife of Sophia; three daughters, Mrs. Brice (Sheila) Auten of Huntersville, Marisa Canoy Pendry of Sophia and Lori Canoy of Flint Hill; two sons, Lloyd Enos Canoy Jr. and Larry Keith Canoy, both of Sophia; three sisters, Mrs. H.D. (Lilly) Baker of Sophia, Mrs. J.B. (Norma) Pierce of Trinity and Mrs. David (Cornelia) Leonard of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Brooke Pendry Thompson, Lauren Pendry, Robert Auten, Christopher and Tyler Auten, Ashley and Dylan Toomes and Raynie Canoy; and a great-grandson, Kaleb B. Thompson.

Cecil Smith, 90, of 3020 Buckingham Way, formerly of High Point, N.C., died Nov. 9, 2000, at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro, N.C., after a brief illness.
He was born in Jamestown, Tenn., March 3, 1910. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Martha Brown.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, as well as nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s in Apex on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at 5:30 p.m. Family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name, to the Laurels of Chatham, Chatham Business Park, Pittsboro, N.C. 27312 or to St. Andrews Catholic Church, Apex, N.C. 27502.
Interment will be in Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point, N.C.

Mrs. Pearl Haynes Wagoner, 94, of 1581 N.C. 61 died at 7:10 a.m. Nov. 10, 2000, at her residence after declining health of four weeks.
She was born in Wilkes County, a daughter of Wesley and Cynthia Taylor Haynes, who both preceded her in death. She was a member of Pleasantview Baptist Church in Elkin. She was married to James A. Wagoner, who survives of the residence. She also was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Haden “Bob” Carter; a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Carden; five sisters, Alice Darnell, Myrdie Moody, Della Stonzestreet, Betty Norman and Ollie Baker; and two brothers, Grover Haynes and Leonard Haynes.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Hobert (Helen) Shores of Thomasville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Violet Brame of Elon College and Mrs. Brenda Brown of Bear Creek; four stepsons, Jimmy Wagoner and Danny Wagoner, both of Burlington, Ronnie Wagoner of Burlington and Chris Wagoner of Graham; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; and 14 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rich & Thompson Chapel, Burlington, by the Rev. Darrell Massey and the Rev. Bobby Bonds. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Holly Hill Cemetery, Thomasville. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her stepdaughter, Violet Brame, 453 N.C. 87 North, Elon College.
