Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Linwood United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Lloyd Canoy Sr.
Sophia
Lloyd Enos Canoy Sr., 70, of 6090 Flint Hill Road, died Nov. 10, 2000, at Duke University Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Randolph County, a son of Devie Worth and Winnifred Spencer Canoy. In 1955, he was married to Luisa Troncone of Naples, Italy. In 1948, he graduated from Trinity High School and joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Sea Bees and retired as a chief petty officer. He was a member of Flint Hill United Church of Christ. He was honored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon as the state’s “1994 Personal Achievement Award” winner. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Shelby Canoy, D.W. Canoy Jr., Troy Canoy and Jerry Canoy.
Surviving are his wife of Sophia; three daughters, Mrs. Brice (Sheila) Auten of Huntersville, Marisa Canoy Pendry of Sophia and Lori Canoy of Flint Hill; two sons, Lloyd Enos Canoy Jr. and Larry Keith Canoy, both of Sophia; two brothers, Joe M. Canoy of Cedar Square and Jimmy D. Canoy of Sophia; three sisters, Mrs. H.D. (Lilly) Baker of Sophia, Mrs. J.B. (Norma) Pierce of Trinity and Mrs. David (Cornelia) Leonard of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Brooke Pendry Thompson, Lauren Pendry, Robert Auten, Christopher and Tyler Auten, Ashley and Dylan Toomes and Raynie Canoy; and a great-grandson, Kaleb B. Thompson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Flint Hill United Church of Christ by the Rev. Jack Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites.

Mrs. Kate Sink Clodfelter, 89, a resident of Holy Long Road, died Nov. 10, 2000, at the Wake Forest University Medical Center.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethany United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.

Carrie Harrison

Carrie Jordan Harrison, 85, died Nov. 10, 2000.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Wayne Harrison and wife, Barbara, of Tarboro and Douglas McDonald Harrison and wife, Susan, of High Point; a sister, Gertrude Morris of Newton Grove; and grandchildren, Cindy Harrison, Sara Harrison, Jessica Harrison and Jordan Harrison.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Burns III officiating. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Jeroleen Polke
High Point
Mrs. Jeroleen “Jerri” Beck Polke, 74, of Belmont Street died Nov. 3, 2000, at her residence.
She was born in Galax, Va., May 20, 1926, a daughter of James and Johannah Perry Beck. She was formerly employed as an executive secretary with Alma Desk and High Point Chair. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Evangelical Church. She was a former member of the Eastern Star in Thomasville. In 1981 she married Gerald Charles Polke, who survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Thomas Jones and his wife, Elizabeth, of Winston-Salem; a brother, Byron Beck of Charleston, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today at the Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John Petry III. A private inurnment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

Janice Strandberg
High Point
Janice Bishop Strandberg, 55, died Nov. 11, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Greensboro, on May 31, 1945, to Robert P. Bishop and Sadie Rice Bishop. She was a good mother and friend to many people of all ages and walks of life. She was outgoing, broadly educated, and treated all persons with utmost respect and consideration. She attended Sumner School and was formerly employed by Strandberg Engineering Laboratories, Inc., where she was manager. She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband, Charles F. Strandberg; two daughters Shannon and Kasi; her mother, Sadie Bishop Oaks, of the home; a sister, Julia Canter and husband, Jack, of Greensboro; and a brother, Jim Bishop and wife, Judy, of Randleman; and three nieces, one nephew and step-children, Lisa Luckado of Randleman, Terry Duffy of Asheboro, John Strandberg of Greensboro, Christopher Strandberg of Julian, Elizabeth Mosley of Rocky Mount and Brenda Yates of Greensboro.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Pastor Dale Dragomir of Hunter Hills Friends Church officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 202 Longview Road.

Patricia Donnell
Burlington
Patricia “Pat” LaVere Allebach Donnell, 77, died Nov. 11, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 22, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter of Franz Emil and Mildred LaVere Mossman Allebach, who both preceded her in death.
She completed her college work at Northwest Missouri State College, Springfield, Mo., then was accepted in the University of Chicago’s biology department, where she helped work on the Manhattan Atomic Bomb Project. On March 15, 1947, she married Raymond Dufau Donnell of Greensboro. She met him in Chicago; he was one of many sailors recuperating from Naval war operations in the Pacific.
In Greensboro, she served as an assistant in the biology department of Woman’s College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). She also was a teacher’s aide at Maple Avenue Elementary School in Burlington.
In recent years, she became an expert on early American match holders, developing an extensive collection. Along the way, she became interested in antiques and collectibles and had a shop at the Burlington Antique Mall.
In later years she became an excellent artist. Her medium was watercolor. She was a member of the Alamance County Arts Council, the N.C. Watercolor Society and the Burlington Artists League.
She joined her husband in boating safety, qualifying with him in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Fifth Coast Guard District. She retired after 25 years service. She was an active member of Flotillas 91 and 99, where she held staff positions. She also served on staff in Division IX, Fifth Coast Guard District.
Her area of expertise was education and teaching aids to navigation. She taught many classes in Division IX and other divisions as well. She also made presentations at district and national meetings of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, with Coast Guard approval. During her service, she was awarded Coast Guard Auxiliary ribbons and medals for: longevity, with a 25 year device; instructor, with a 25 year device; public education achievement; flotilla operations achievement; member training; and growth and retention.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Cynthia Suzanne Donnell of Richmond, an associate professor of voice at Virginia Commonwealth University and Kathleen Frances Donnell New of Canton, a Realtor; a son, Chief Warrant Officer Alain Charles Donnell, U.S. Coast Guard, stationed in Boston; six grandchildren; one stepsister, Gretchen Allebach Szymanski of Las Vegas; and her dear stepdaughter, Joanne Chase Donnell, wife of her son.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rick & Thompson Chapel by Father Briant Cullinane. Burial will be at Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at 622 Ridgeway Drive.

Akers Hankins
High Point
Akers Lee Hankins, 89, of 811 Nance Ave., died Nov. 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born March 21, 1911, in Mountain Valley, Va., a son of Fletcher and Mary Lawrence Hankins. He was employed at Silver Knit Industries, Tomlinson Furniture Co., and later at Clarendon Industries, retiring in 1977. He was of the Baptist faith. On June 20, 1939, he married the former Alma Barnes, who preceded him in death Feb. 6, 1995. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Forrest Hankins, George Hankins and Jess Hankins, and two sisters, Lottie Wall and Sadie Hall.
Surviving are a daughter, Shelby H. Benson and her husband, Wilton, of Mebane; five sons, Donald Harold Hankins, and his wife, Marilyn, Junior Hankins and his wife, Nancy, and Ray Dell Hankins, all of High Point, Eugene Hankins and his wife, Savannah, of Summerfield, and Wesley Hankins and his wife, Kathleen, of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Audrey Murray of Greensboro; a brother, Jim Hankins of Archdale; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sechrest Archdale Chapel by the Rev. Bill Barnes. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Johnny Jordan

Johnny Vinson Jordan, 59, of 1203 Filbert Place, died Nov. 11, 2000, at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Haizlip Funeral Home.

Robert Tilley Jr.
Lexington
Robert “Bobby” Wall Tilley Jr., 52, died at 3:16 a.m. Nov. 12, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Shirley Barringer
Archdale
Mrs. Shirley Evan Barringer, 64, died Nov. 12, 2000, at Westwood Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was a daughter of Coy and Luna Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Leroy Barringer.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Barringer Dotson of Sophia; three sons, Michael Barringer and Jerry Barringer, both of High Point, and David Barringer of Madison; two sisters, Joyce Buchanan of Sophia and Maxine Gritte of Phoenixville, Pa.; a brother, Jimmy Evans of Phoenixville; five grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.
Services will be private.

Akers Lee Hankins, 89, of 811 Nance Ave., died Nov. 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Johnny Vinson Jordan, 59, of 1203 Filbert Place died Nov. 11, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Rock Hill, S.C., a son of Daniel and Johnnie Mae Belton Jordan, who both preceded him in death. He was employed as a cabinet maker with Marsh Furniture Co. He was of the Baptist faith. He also was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hairston.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Doris Cuthbertson Jordan of the residence; a daughter, Romona Chiedu of High Point; three sons, David Jordan and his wife, Christi, Steve Hairston and Rashawn Yarrell, all of High Point; a brother, Ronald Jordan and his wife, Helen, of Summerfield, S.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Rosalie Archie and Mrs. Margaret Dingle, both of High Point, and Mrs. Willie Mae Canty and her husband, David, of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren; an aunt, Mrs. Dennie Robinson of High Point; and nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Haizlip Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel and other times at the residence.

Joseph Pasour
Fletcher
Joseph Bennett Pasour, 44, of Williams Road died Nov. 11, 2000, at Duke University Medical Center.
He was a native of Jackson County, and a son of Hilda Crawford Pasour and Bennett C. Pasour. He was a baptized member of the Lutheran church and employed 18 years with Braswell Scale and Equipment Co. He was a loving husband, father and son. He was preceded in death by his father in February 2000.
Surviving are his mother of Candler; his wife, Julia Calhoun Pasour, formerly of High Point; and two daughters, Jodi and Jackie Pasour of the residence.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lutheran Church of Nativity, Arden, by the Rev. Mark E. Fitzsimmons. Burial will be in Calvary Churchyard. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Groce Funeral Home, Lake Julian, Long Shoals Road, Arden, and other times at the residence of his mother in Candler.

Mrs. Mae Johnson Proctor, 86, of 6014 Prospect St. died Nov. 13, 2000, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for the Triad.
She was born July 8, 1914, in Guilford County, a daughter of John Wesley and Mary Alice Wilson Johnson. She retired from Crown Hosiery in 1968. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church. In 1932, she was married to Duncan M. Proctor, who preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Ryan of Archdale; a sister, Mrs. Mary Iannotti of High Point; two grandchildren, Sandy Freeman and her husband, Ronnie, of Archdale and Jerry Rozier and his wife, Phyllis, of Archdale; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sechrest Archdale Chapel by the Rev. Karl Kelly and the Rev. Danny Graham. Burial will be in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
