Miss Carolyn Bell Collins, 59, a resident of 219 Polk St. died Dec. 15, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
She was born Oct. 6, 1941, in Davidson County, a daughter of Annie Latham Hoover and the late Percy William Collins. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her mother, of the home; and step-father, Johnny A. Hoover.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Holly Hill Memorial Park by Rev. John Holsenback. There will be no stated visitation at the funeral home. J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Shelba Johnson

Mrs. Shelba Jean Doby Johnson, 61, a resident of 6974 Winners Circle died Dec. 16, 2000, at the High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born April 14, 1939, in Davidson County, a daughter of the late Farris Cleveland and Thelma Arie Miller Doby. A resident of the Trinity vicinity all her life, she was owner of Shelba D. Johnson Trucking, Inc. and was of the Methodist faith.
In 1956, she married Alexander L. (Red) Johnson, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two children, Cleve Alexander Johnson and wife, Belinda, of High Point, and Jasen Derrick Johnson of the residence; three sisters, Dorothy Brown of Winston-Salem, Nancy Hengel of Trinity and Sandra Rush of Kernersville; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Gene Johnson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by Rev. Wayne Johnson. Burial will be in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Mrs. Mary Moss Salmon, 88, died Dec. 16, 2000, at Arbor Acres.
She was born in Rockingham to James B. and Bertha Chandler Moss on March 22, 1912. She was a member of Clemmons First Baptist Church and was a member of T.E.L. Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Church Quilting Club, member of Clemmons Gardening Club and of the Neighborhood Breakfast Club.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Rachael Sedberry of High Point and Mrs. Emma M. Brigman of Rockingham; one brother, John C. Moss of Rockingham; several special and devoted nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews, one great-great niece; and one great-great nephew.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by Rev. Sam Murphy. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Florsele Thompson

Miss Florsele Thompson, affectionately called Tottie, was born March 5, 1938.
She was the daughter of the late John W. and Floretta Kerns Thompson. She had resided in High Point for 23 years and was raised in Waxhaw. She was a member of Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and attended St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church in High Point.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel H. Hogan and Annie R. Holland; and one brother, Fred Wallace Thompson.
She is survived by three sisters, Lillie T. Massey of the home, Thelma Carter of Winston-Salem and Roberta Thompson of Charlotte; one brother, Willie F. Thompson of the home; one aunt, Mattie J. Ceres of Hamlet; one sister-in-law, Liz Thompson of Seattle; one brother-in-law, James Holland of New York; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church, High Point. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.

Dewey Albert Tompkins, 67, a resident of 226 Stemp Everhart Rd. died Dec. 15, 2000, at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born March 15, 1933, in Lumberton, N.C., the son of Nolen Tompkins and Lula Smith Tompkins. He had been a resident of Thomasville since 1957, coming here from Loris, S.C. He was employed with Commercial Carving and was a member of New Grace Baptist Church.
On Sept. 16, 1949, he was married to Berlene Bullard, who survives of the home.
Also surviving is a son, Dewey Ronald Tompkins and his wife, Donna, of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Michael Tompkins of Bolivia, Ray Moore of Thomasville and Christina Echerd of Thomasville; two great-grandchildren, Steven Moore and Pandora Echerd; two special sisters-in-law; five special brothers-in-law; and special nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel by Rev. D.W. Long, Rev. Kenneth Fowler and Rev. Ron Mason. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home and other times at the home.
James Trembath

James Grenfell Trembath, 91, of 5100 Sharon Rd. died Dec. 16, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte following a brief history.
He was born Sept. 7, 1909, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., the son of Mary Grenfell and William Trembath, who were both officers in the Salvation Army. He was a graduate of Trenton, N.J. High School. He retired as traffic manager of Southern Asbestos Co. in 1974 after 43 years with the company.
He was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class of the church. He was a former member of Senior Forum and Senior Scholars. For 10 years, he was a volunteer at Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Howie Trembath, on Aug. 9, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Dr. Al Reeder of High Point, and Marti and Pete Hoogendonk of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Al Reeder, Jr., Mary Lynne Radford and Alice Reeder-Doss; and six great-grandchildren, Katie and Joseph Reeder, Jenna and Ty Radford, and Hailey Reeder and Jorie Doss.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Park United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Julian Alexander, Senior Minister. A private emtombment service will be held earlier at the Sharon Memorial Park mausoleum. Visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Michael Steven Boyd, 38, of 2236 Old N.C. 29 died Dec. 15, 2000, at Community General Hospital.
He was born July 30, 1962, in Davidson County, the son of William Boyd and Lorene Brown Boyd. He was employed with Thomasville Furniture Industries, Plant B. He was owner and operator of Wintersong Cleaning Services. He was a certified Emergency Medical Technician and a Certified Nursing Assistant and a member of the Church of Tomorrow.
Surviving are his parents of Thomasville; two sisters, Mrs. Mark (Lori) Hutchens of Thomasville and Mrs. Wayne (Rhonda) Hess of Tucson, Ariz.; his grandmother, Annie B. Brown of Thomasville; his business associate, Kenny Goodson, whom he considered to be a brother; all of his friends at Potter House; four nephews; and one niece.

He was a native of Randolph County and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed log cutter.
Surviving are one daughter, Brenda Davis of Randleman; two sisters, Margaret Hill of Thomasville and Helen Moore of Randleman; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Donald Eugene Edwards, 71, of 3855 Mechanic Road, Lot #29, died Dec. 17, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Marion County, Indiana. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired firefighter and member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Luther Edwards, of the home; one son, Ralf E. Edwards of Indianapolis; one daughter, Nina Gale Bernsmeier of Sanford; and one sister, Mary Jane Gueutal of Madison, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Pride Skeen Gallimore, 85, of N. Main Street died Dec. 16, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Davidson County to John Skeen and Edna Snider Skeen. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired employee of Denton school cafeteria.
She was married to Bob Gallimore, who died July 23, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Cole.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Darrell Gallimore of Advance and Phillip R. Gallimore of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Golda Weddington of Denton.

Joseph Robert Harris Jr., 81, of 407 Crestview Drive died Dec. 17, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born June 18, 1919, in Davidson County, a son of Joseph Robert Harris and Mary Victoria Everhart Harris and was a lifelong resident of Davidson County. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and had retired from Erwin-Lambeth Inc.
He was a member of Unity United Methodist Church and was a member and past president of the Hilton-Stone Sunday School Class. He was a former Sunday School teacher.
He was married to Miss Katherine Daniels, who died in 1987.
Surviving are one daughter, Ms. Karen Jo Harris of the home; one sister, Mrs. Clara Ferrell of Archdale; and two brothers, Ray Harris of Thomasville and David Harris of Archdale.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Unity United Methodist Church by Rev. DeForest E. Hillyer Jr. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. He was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Randolph County, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. (Lad) Percy Hulin. He was employed with Carolina Business Furniture with more than 41 years of service.
Surviving are two children, Alvin Carmie Hulin and wife, Cathy, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Don Wayne Hulin and wife, Judy, of Lexington; three sisters, Hazel Hoover of Trinity, Edena Pennington and Lucy Noah, both of Lexington; three brothers, “Bud” Jesse James Hulin and the Rev. “Tubby” Clayton Hulin, both of Lexington, and Kenneth Terry Hulin of Thomasville; and four grandchildren, Josh and Heather Hulin of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Michelle and Mitchell Hulin of Lexington.
