Mrs. Gladys Gray Wall, 78, of 416 N. Elm Street died Jan. 5, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.
She was a native of Asheboro and retired from Union Carbide. She attended Asheboro Friends Meeting and was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Meroney.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Smith and his wife, Janice, of Trinity; a daughter, Anne Herlocker and her husband, Boyce, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sisters, Doris Patterson and her husband, Cecil, of Asheboro, and Alise Everhart and her husband, Bill, of Asheboro; four granddaughters, Lisa Norman and her husband, Dan, of Lexington, Angela Smith and her husband, Joe, of Trinity, Jenny Herlocker of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Tara Tucker of Asheboro; one grandson, Bill Herlocker, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Robert L. Kidd. Visitation will follow the service.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Ellington Bell, 73, former resident of 514 Belmont Drive died Jan. 7, 2001, in the Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Guilford County, a daughter of Herbert and Rebecca Draughn Ellington. She had been a resident of High Point all of her life and was a former employee of Ellington’s Florist. She was a member of Springfield Friends Meeting and the women’s golf association at Colonial Country Club. She was married to William Henry Bell, who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Bell.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Phil (Becky) Butler of Badin Lake; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Coy (Joy) Hilton of Orlando, Fla.; her stepmother, Mrs. Margaret Ellington of High Point; three grandchildren, Jerimie Butler, Kristen Shafer and Jeri Lynn Hulin; three great-grandchildren, Rebekah Wood, Margaret Butler and Lilian Shafer.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. Timothy J. Huffman. Interment will follow in Springfield Friends Meeting Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Bell’s extended family at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, 625 Ashland Street, Archdale, N.C. 27263, for all the loving care she received and ask that any memorials be directed to the center.

Mrs. Kathryn Turner Gordon, 80, of 208 Kendall Mill Road died Jan. 6, 2001, at her home.
She was born May 14, 1920, in Davidson County, the daughter of Charlie Turner and Rosie Leonard Turner. She had worked for Carolina Underwear and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. In May 1935, she married Carl Gordon, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1970.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Fouts and her husband, Billy, of Thomasville, Mrs. Patsy Alford and her husband, Jerry Don, of Thomasville, and Mrs. Kathy Biddy and her husband, Mike, of High Point; two sons, Carl Gordon Jr. of Cathedral City, Calif., and Jerry Wayne Gordon and his wife, Melietta, of Thomasville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Family Funeral Care in Thomasville by the Rev. Mark Sink. Burial will be at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body is at Family Funeral Care. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Mrs. Tammy Austin Tahirkhali, 36, of 322 Daniel Paul Drive died Jan. 7, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Jan. 14, 1964, in Guilford County, a daughter of Marvin Curtis and Wanda Gail Morton Austin. She was a self-employed cosmetologist and attended His Laboring Few Ministries. On March 19, 1999, she was married to Zahd Tahirkhali, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a son, Kyle Curtis Chesson of Archdale; her mother, Mrs. Wanda Austin of the home; her father, Marvin Curtis Austin of Trinity; and a brother, Wayne Austin of Trinity.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sechrest Archdale Chapel by Minister Scott Baker. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Carl Cox, 78, of 4810 Westhaven Lane died at 1:15 a.m. Jan. 7, 2001, at the High Point Regional Hospital after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Jamestown, a son of George Wallace and Lena Hubbard Cox. He was a resident of High Point the majority of his life. He was a former employee of Henredon Furniture Industries and Maitland Smith Inc. He was a charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, the Men’s Bible Class, former church treasurer and deacon. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. On May 3, 1957, he was married to Helen Wall, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Karen) Deese of Monroe; a son, Jeffrey Dean Cox and his wife, Lori, of Holland, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Hall of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Christopher and Ashley Deese, Kristin Cox, Kourtni and Kristopher Cox.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Rodney E. Otwell and the Rev. John Allard. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
