Mrs. Helen Floyd Jackson, 50, of 3316 Dillon Road died Jan. 8, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.
She was born in Guilford County, Sept. 13, 1950, the daughter of Hobert and LaVearn Bivens Floyd. She married Tommy Jackson on Dec. 1, 1968. She was a self-employed child care provider for 15 years and a caterer. She was a member of Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church. She attended Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church where she was a member of the ladies auxiliary that made caps for newborn babies and blankets for Hospice.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are her parents of High Point; a daughter, Angie Whitacre of the home; a son, Phillip Jackson Jr. of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Mrs. Rickey (Nancy) Hall of Archdale and Anna Floyd Bowman of Sophia; two brothers, John Floyd and his wife, Darlene, of High Point and Hobert Floyd of High Point; a granddaughter, Christina Whitacre; and her mother-in-law, Ruth Jackson of High Point.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Douglas Caldwell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the Cumby Family Funeral Service of High Point and other times at the residence of her parents, 1220 Jackson Lake Road, High Point.

James Medlin

James Richard Medlin, 55, of 101-B Northgate Court died Jan. 8, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1945, to Clarence Medlin Jr. and Martha Cody Medlin. He was attending Shady Grove Wesleyan Church in Colfax and was a member of the Koinia Sunday School Class. He was a self-employed contractor and served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his father of High Point; a son, Jim Medlin and his wife, Jennifer, of Shelby; a daughter, Kim Lambeth and her husband, Dewayne, of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Shirley Mendenhall of High Point, Kathy Wells of Thomasville and Susan Spaugh of Kingsport, Tenn.; a brother, Martin Medlin of Plantation, Fla.; two grandchildren, Will and Kendall Lambeth of Winston-Salem; his fiancé, Cindy Fletcher and her daughter, Cristen Fletcher, both of High Point; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Services on Eastchester Drive by the Rev. Wes Brown. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home of Kim and Dewayne Lambeth, 3106 Friendship Ledford Road, Winston-Salem.

Mrs. Carol Armstrong Miller, 63, of 111 Chestnut Drive died Jan. 7, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Oct. 9, 1937, in Salem, Mass., a daughter of Charles and Dorilla Leblanc Melanson. She was a former employee of McDonalds in Thomasville. On Dec. 25, 1965, she married Dennis Grayson Miller, who survives of the home. She was preceded in death by a son, Derik Armstrong; her father; and a brother, Richard Melanson.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Davina Gordon and her husband, Scott, of Thomasville and Ms. Jan Biggs of Lexington; three sons, John Armstrong of High Point, Dennis B. Miller and his wife, Jessica, of Thomasville and Darrin Miller of Thomasville; her mother, Mrs. Dorilla Melanson Dombrowski of Salem, Mass.; four sisters, Mrs. Norma O’Neill, Mrs. April Maurais, Miss June Dombrowski and Mrs. Juanita Gorman, all of Massachusetts; a brother, George Melanson of Nevada; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Family Funeral Care in Thomasville by the Rev. Daniel Wilson. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Randolph County. Visitation of will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Mrs. Virginia “Jennie” Dare Harris Page, 85, of 4271 Old Battleground Road died Jan. 8, 2001, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Her husband, Joseph LeGrande Page, preceded her in death in 1973.
Surviving are a son, James Joseph “Boe” Page of the home; two sisters, Maxine Harris Conrad of Lexington and Willa Mae Harris Lambeth of Thomasville; and a brother, the Rev. Luther Harris of Thomasville.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Westminster Gardens with a reception following at St. Francis Episcopal Church. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Forbis and Dick on N. Elm Street and other times at the residence.

Mrs. Gloria Terrell Wright, 62, died Jan. 9, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 13, 1938, in High Point, a daughter of Paul and Selda Dyer Terrell and had lived in McLeansville for 10 years. She was associated with O’Neal Steel Co. for 10 years and was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy. She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Wright and a grandchild, Shane Wright.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Diane Ellison of Greensboro; three sisters, Mrs. Janie Portis, Mrs. Sylvia Cooper and Mrs. Kathy Portis, all of Thomasville; two step-sisters, Mrs. Betty Hodges and Ms. Miriam Anderson; five brothers, Richard Terrell of Cary, Tim, Clifford, Paul and Charlie Terrell, all of High Point; two grandchildren, Kelani and Chasity Wright; and a great-grandchild, Kira Arrington.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sechrest Chapel on E. Lexington Avenue by the Rev. Jack Kivett. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
