Bradley Moore
Thomasville - Bradley Reece Moore, 19, of 7638 East Holly Grove Road, died Nov. 6, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in Guilford County, March 7, 1980, a son of Grady Moore and Gloria Miles Moore and had been a resident of Davidson County all of his life. He attended East Davidson High School and Ledford High School and graduated in 1998. He was all-conference and all-county football player at East Davidson High School. He was a member of the wrestling team at East Davidson High School and at Ledford High School and in 1998 and was state champion in the 160 lb. weight class for Ledford High School. He was a member of Rankin Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point. He was employed with Akzo Noble in High Point.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Gloria and Robert Johnson of Trinity; his father and stepmother, Grady and Jane Moore of the home; a brother, Scott Moore of Lexington; two stepsisters, Miss Rhiannon Banks of the home and Mrs. Jimmy (Mary) Yater of Asheboro; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Miles of High Point; step-grandfather, Walter Johnson of High Point; maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Sallie Gregory of Greensboro.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel by the Rev. John E. Miles. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 until 9 tonight, and other times at the home of the mother, Mrs. Gloria Johnson, 4275 White Tail Drive, Trinity, and at the home of the father, Grady Moore, 7638 East Holly Grove Road.
Daisy Potter
High Point - A lifelong, well known citizen throughout this community, Mrs. Daisy Hill Potter, went to rest with the Lord on Nov. 7, 1999, at her residence, 601 Ellwood Drive.
She was born March 6, 1910.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Herbert Potter Jr. of Plainfield, N.J., and Clyde Potter and his wife, Helen, Phenix City, Ala., five daughters, Mrs. Viola Morgan of the home, Mrs. Velva Mock and husband, Benny, Mrs. Margaret Bowen and husband, Kenneth, Mrs. Sarah Atkinson, all of High Point, and Ms. Mary Potter of Sacramento, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Scottel of High Point and Mrs. Margaret Hill McIver of Thomasville, Ga. There are other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial United Methodist Church by Dr. James Graves. Family visitation will be at the church 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and other times at the residence. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Haizlip Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Gretchen Stroud
High Point - Mrs. Gretchen Davis Stroud, 88, of The Wesleyan Arms, died there Nov. 7, 1999.
She was born Aug. 10, 1911, in Guilford County, a daughter of John Lawrence and Pearl Tinsbloom Davis. She had lived most of her life in the High Point and Jamestown areas and retired from High Point Memorial Hospital as a dietitian. She was a member of Oakdale United Memorial Church in Jamestown.
On March 4, 1931, she was married to Everett Stroud, who died on April 8, 1965. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Denny, who died in 1991.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Glenda S. Joyce of High Point and Mrs. Barbara S. Whittington of Trinity; a sister, Mrs. Inez Spruill of Cary; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakdale United Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles H. Ireson. Burial will be in Deep River Friends Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service.

Ola Black
Thomasville - Mrs. Ola Mae Black, 88, of 1001 W. Holly Hill Road died Nov. 9, 1999.
She was born Sept. 22, 1911, in Guilford County, the daughter of Robert Payne and Elsie Welch Payne. She had been a resident of this area for the greater part of her life. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. She was married to Walter Phillip “Bill” Black, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Black Davis of Marion and Pansy Black Hyatt of Kernersville; a son, Donald Marion Black and his wife, Dorothy, of Kernersville; two brothers, Tommy Payne of Thomasville and Coy Payne of Greenville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Dan Downing officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home from 7 until 9 tonight.
James Bolden Sr.
Greensboro - James Wesley Bolden Sr., 69, of Greensboro died Nov. 9, 1999, at the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after an illness of several weeks.
He was born Jan. 1, 1930, in Danville, Va., a son of John and Estelle Whitt Bolden. He had been a resident of the Jamestown area since 1966 and was owner and operator of Quality Sample Co. Inc. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served in the Korean War, and was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church. On Sept. 23, 1949, he was married to Bertra Ward, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Allen (Cynthia) Saunders of 4545 Peace Road, Trinity; his son, James W. Bolden Jr. of 4907 Trailwood Drive, Greensboro; his sister, Mrs. Tom (Ann) Norwood of Daytona Beach, Fla.; his brother, Clement Monroe Bolden of Miami, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Kristopher Michael and Kelly Suzanne Bolden, Elliott Ward and Christian James Saunders.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville, Va., by the Dr. C.M. Worthy. The family will receive friends at the Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, from 7 until 8:30 tonight.

High Point - Mrs. Mary Lucille “Lucy” Cade, 73, of High Point died Nov. 9, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Lucinda Cooke
High Point - Mrs. Lucinda Meredith Cooke, 79, of 325 Phillips Avenue died Nov. 6, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Carroll County, Va., a daughter of William R. and Cora Lee Thomas Meredith. She was a retired employee of A & L Hosiery and was of the Baptist faith. She was married to William Virgle Cooke, who preceded her in death in June of 1999. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Louise Needham; two grandchildren, Vickie Lynn Needham and Joe Franklin Needham Jr.; four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Alice Hunter Reynolds of Archdale; one sister, Della Melton of Archdale; six grandchildren, Fonda Gail Owenby, Sheila Needham, Sharon Zimmerman, Rhonda Griffith, James Wade Hunter Jr. and William Elmer Hunter; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with the Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at other times in the home of her daughter Alice Reynolds, 2417 Murray Circle, Archdale.
Samuel Davis
Salisbury - Samuel Lee Davis, 68, of Salisbury died Nov. 8, 1999.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakland Heights Baptist Church, Salisbury. Visitation will be from 7 until 8:30 tonight at Lyerly Funeral Home, Salisbury.
Lillian McFarland
High Point - Miss Lillian Mae McFarland, 83, of the Piedmont Christian Home and formerly of 204 Greenpoint Court died at the home on Nov. 8, 1999.
She was born Feb. 28, 1916, in Guilford County and was a resident of High Point all of her life. She was retired from Influential Hosiery Co. and worked 50 years in the hosiery mills. She was a member of Westchester Baptist Church.
Surviving are one brother, William B. (Dub) McFarland and his wife, Marie, of Marbury, Ala.; two sisters, Lena Sechrest of High Point and Ruby Wall of Randleman; seven nephews and several great- nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister Virginia M. Yokley and her nephew John E. Wall Jr.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sechrest Chapel on Lexington Avenue by the Rev. Vernon Williams. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her sister Lena Sechrest, 204 Greenpoint Court.

Jerrie Mellin
High Point - Ms. Jerrie K. Mellin of High Point died Nov. 8, 1999, at Human Service Alliance.
She was a member of Oak Hill Friends Meeting.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Cranford; her grandchildren, Chris and Amy Cranford; and her brothers, David Kersey of South Carolina, Tony Kersey of Georgia and Terry Kersey of Greensboro.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Friends Meeting, 2001 Westchester Drive. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Lexington - William Arthur Palmer, 92, of Centerclair Nursing Home died Nov. 9, 1999.

Mildred Wall
Trinity - Mrs. Mildred B. Wall, 70, a resident of 4712 Hoover Hill Road, died Nov. 9, 1999, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after declining in health for two months.
She was born June 26, 1929, in Winston-Salem, a daughter of Miles Lee and Ella Gordon Bumgarner. A resident of Trinity for the past year and a half, she was a former resident of Yadkin County, where she was a graduate of Pilot High School and the valedictorian of her class. She was a former employee of Hunter Publishing Co. and retired from Wachovia Bank and Trust Co. in Winston-Salem. She was a member of Thomasville Friends Meeting, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. On Jan. 27, 1950, she married the Rev. Earl Reece Wall, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael C. Wall of Charlotte, Dale A. Wall of 4710 Hoover Hill Road, Trinity, and Timothy R. Wall of Mocksville; one brother, Norman Bumgarner of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Marcus Wall and Lyndsey Wall; and two step-grandchildren, Edwin Mathis and Julie Mathis.
Funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting with the Rev. Randy Quate, the Rev. Barney Pierce, the Rev. Michael C. Wall and the Rev. John Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Gilead United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 8:30 tonight at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
