Phillip Alexis Beddington, 47, of 288 Klopman Mill Road, died Jan. 27, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Dec. 2, 1953, in High Point, a son of Francis W. and Ginette Beddington. He was a resident of High Point most of his life. He was an auto mechanic and attended Denton Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are a brother, Ken C. Beddington and his wife, Jan, of Lexington; and two aunts, Jessie Porter and Cora Bradley, both of High Point.
Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. Claudie Harrison. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 this afternoon at the funeral home.
Scott Biscoe
Denton
Scott Michael Biscoe, 47, of 274 N. Main St., died after a sudden illness Jan. 27, 2001 at Community General Hospital in Thomasville.
He was born July 1, 1953, a son of Leonard and Marjean Biscoe in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He was employed by Aramark as a resident vending manager. He was a member of the Denton Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid bass fisherman and was secretary and treasurer of Siler-Rand Bowling Association.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Biscoe of the home; a son, Cory Biscoe of the home; a daughter, Heather Biscoe of Denton; a grandson, Cody Daniel; his parents, Leonard and Marjean Biscoe of Denton; and his brother, Billy Biscoe and his wife, Karen, of Denton.
Funeral will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel by Father John Fitzpatrick. Burial will be in Mount View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Carleen Clodfelter
Thomasville
Mrs. Carleen Cashatt Clodfelter, 78, of Centerclair Nursing Home, died Jan. 27, 2001, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 12, 1922, in Randolph County, a daughter of Allison Lee and Maggie Miller Cashatt. She had been a resident of Davidson County most of her life. She was a former employee of Ragan Knitting Co. She was a member of Mount Zion Wesleyan Church and the Ever Ready Sunday school class. She married Harvey O. Clodfelter on July 20, 1973, who preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1986. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Cashatt and Cromer Cashatt.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Velna Alexander of Thomasville; a niece, Mrs. Janice Davis and her husband, Johnny, of Thomasville; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Nell Cashatt of Thomasville.
Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Wesleyan Church by Dr. E. Keith Carroll and the Rev. Carroll Upton. Burial will be in church cemetery. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until placed into the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Henry Arthur De Witt, 80, of Maryfield Court, died Jan. 26, 2001.
A memorial Mass will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Maryfield Nursing Home. Visitation will be held after the service.

Thomas English Jr. of Archdale dies
ARCHDALE – Thomas Roland English Jr. 63, of 501 Trindale Road died at 12:02 p.m. Jan. 27, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1937, in Randolph County, a son of Thomas Roland and Faye Walker English Sr. A resident of Archdale most of his life, he was the former owner of English Motors (Ford dealership), former member of the board of trustees of Guilford College, Archdale Friends Meeting and Perpetual Savings and Loan. He was past president of High Point Country Club, first planning and zoning chairman of the city of Archdale, and former member of High Point Rotary Club. He was past president of Springfield Memorial Association. He was a graduate of Guilford College and a member of Archdale Friends Meeting. On Aug. 22, 1959, he married Kay Carroll, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Roland English III and wife, Amy, of Shelby and Charles Carroll English and wife, Lori, of Trinity; two brothers, Nereus Clark English III of Southmont and James Walker English of High Point; his mother of Friends Home at Guilford College; and two grandchildren, Landen Charles English and Morgen Faith English.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Archdale Friends Meeting by the Rev. Scott A. Wagoner. Private inurnment will be in Springfield Friends Columbarium. Visitation will be 5:30-7 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

Henry Hicks

The Rev. Henry James Hicks of 1028 Montlieu Ave. died Jan. 26, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was a native of Marlboro County, S.C. He was an employee of Leggett & Platt Inc. for many years. He was associate pastor of Living Water Baptist Church of which Aldoph Thomas is the founder.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carolyn B. Hicks, of the residence; his daughter, Nicole Patrice Hicks of High Point; his son, Tony Sanders of Thomasville; a brother, Mr. Willie J. Hicks of High Point; a sister, the Rev. Addie Collins of High Point; and a grandchild.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Living Water Baptist Church by the Rev. T. Johnson. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:30 to 3 p.m. today at the church prior to the service.

Jay Hohn Sr.
Archdale
Jay Sylvester Hohn Sr., 81, of 2392 Hohn Road died at 2:50 p.m. Jan. 27, 2001, at his home following an illness of several months.
He was born May 15, 1919, in Randolph County, a son of Emil Jay and Ethel Davis Hohn. He had been a resident of the Cedar Square community most of his life and was a retired dairy farmer. He was a graduate of Trinity High School, attended High Point College and was a member of Cedar Square Friends Meeting. On Sept. 16, 1939, he married Evelyn Lackey, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Janet Hohn and husband Lloyd Richardson of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Elmer (Barbara) Farlow of Sophia, Mrs. Al (Linda) English of Archdale, and Mrs. Dan (Deborah) Beasley of Greenville, S.C.; two sons, Jay S. Hohn Jr. and wife, Linda, of Cedar Square and David Milton John of Cedar Square; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Robertson of Archdale.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Square Friends Meeting by the Rev. Ben A. Hurley. Burial will be in the Meeting House Cemetery. The body is at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale and will be placed in the meeting house 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.
David Pope Sr.
New London
David Elwood Pope Sr., 68, of 52-A Club House Drive and formerly of Midway School Road of Thomasville, died Jan. 26, 2001, at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle.
He was born Jan. 29, 1932, in Davidson County, a son of Claude Elwood and Ida Belle Leonard Pope. He lived most of his life in Davidson County. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and was retired from Amos Hosiery Mill. He was married to Marian Macon on Jan. 1, 1955, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ms. Lynn Pope of Elizabeth City and Mrs. Cathy Purvis and her husband, Larry, of Tampa, Fla.; a son, David Elwood Pope Jr. of High Point; two sisters, Mrs. Billie Wood and her husband, Clyde, of Thomasville and Mrs. Shirley Rampp and her husband, Ted, of Thomasville; a brother, the Rev. Ronnie Pope of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Olivia Odugba, Claire Odugba, Alexis Odugba, Rose Odugba; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Macon.
Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville by the Rev. Ronnie Pope. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Eula Spencer Savage, 89, of 10152 Archdale Road, died at 2 p.m. Jan. 27, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital following declining health of several months.
She was born Sept. 2, 1911, in Randolph County, a daughter of George W. and Emma Peace Spencer. A homemaker, she lived in Archdale and Trinity all her life. She was a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Pearl S. Hill and Mrs. Ruth S. Ward; and one brother Cicero Spencer.
Surviving are two daughters, Ms. Nancy S. Buie of High Point and Mrs. Peggy S. Ledwell of 10156 Archdale Road; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Spencer of Trinity; and four grandchildren, Craig T. Ledwell and wife, Jacquelyn, Thomas Buie, Jay Robert Buie Jr. and Sherri L. Buie.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church by the Rev. Matthew J. Emory and the Rev. Charles B. Walker. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The body is at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, and will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Peggy Ledwell.
Pallbearers will be Jack Blevins, Tom Crowson, Russell Draughn, Ken Jones, Richard Welborn and Keith White.
