Vatra Swaim

Miss. Vatra M. Swaim, 86, formerly of 840 W. Lexington Ave. died Feb. 16, 2001, at Evergreen Nursing Home after several years of declining health.
She was born Feb. 19, 1914, in Guilford County, a daughter of William Leroy and Kay Swaim Welborn. She was a lifelong resident of High Point and a graduate of High Point University. She was co-owner of Griffin Finance and retired from Swaim Supply Co. She attended Spring Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving are Sharon Kearns, Farris and Mary Montgomery, Kenny and Jan Montgomery, and Melinda and David Byerly.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Spring Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hubert Brown. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Farris Montgomery, 190 Calvin St. Memorials may be directed to Spring Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, 240 Spring Hill Church Road, High Point, N.C. 27262.

Mrs. Elizabeth “Libba” Tedder, 77, died Feb. 11, 2001.
She was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Knoxville, Tenn., a daughter of Louis Baxter Nickle Sr. and Lillian Hough Nickle. She loved entertaining family and friends. She was an enthusiastic golfer and dancer. She loved flowers and birds. She was involved in her church and numerous volunteer organizations through the years in Georgia and North Carolina. She was the founder of Discovery Weekend at Christmount Christian Assembly in Black Mountain, N.C. She was deeply involved in the growth of Christmount. She was a gracious, talented heroic lady, who lived as an example for others and whose life will be celebrated by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tedder.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jodie Stamey and her husband, Robert, and Mrs. Claudia Owens and her husband, Barry; two sisters, Catherine Sebby and Lillian Henderson; two brothers, Louis Baxter Nickle Jr. and Bill Nickle; three grandchildren, Claire Dalton, Travis Owens and Brandon Owens; two great-grandchildren, Megan Rembert and Timothy Dalton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at United Community Church.

James Robert Woods, 59, of Earlie Everhart Road died Feb. 16, 2001, at Community General Hospital. He was born in North Wilkesboro, a son of Elgie E. Woods and Angie Church Woods.
Surviving are two sisters, Sandra Kennedy of Thomasville and Jean Snider of Farmer; and two nephews.
No funeral will be held. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mack Arthur Wright Sr. died Feb. 14, 2001.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Clara Johnson Wright of Clio, S.C.; a loving companion, Louise Williams, of High Point; a son, Mack A. Wright Jr. of High Point; two daughters, Kim Denise Wright and Dorsina Lee, both of Schweinfurt, Germany; four brothers, John Wright of Charlotte, Marvin Wright of High Point, Ralph Wright of Clio and Dennis Wright of High Point; two sisters, Gladys Thomas of High Point and Myrtle Wright of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a stepsister, Ruth Thompson of Clio.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Living Water Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church Sunday one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be 2:30-3 Sunday at the church. Hargett Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
Edith Albright

Mrs. Edith Kennedy Albright, 83, of 747 Cunningham Road went to be with the Lord on Feb. 10, 2001, at her residence.
She was born May 5, 1917, in Davidson County, a daughter of the late Robert Lee Kennedy and Pearl Burkhart Kennedy. She was a retired employee of Maple Wood Carving Co. and faithfully served her Lord for 71. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nona Everhart, Mattie Simmons and Carrie Hedrick, and two brothers, Alonzo Kennedy and Rufus Kennedy. She was married Sept. 29, 1939, to Melvin Odis Albright, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are three sons, Leon Albright and his wife, Donna, Winfred Albright and his wife, Agnes, and Roger Albright and his wife, Diane, all of Thomasville; one sister, Mrs. Norman (Ethel) Jones of Thomasville; one brother, Parker Kennedy and his wife, Mildred, of Thomasville; six grandchildren, Barry Albright, Christy Lawing, Gina Grubb, Eric Albright, Emily Albright and Daniel Albright; and two great-grandchildren, Gentry Grubb and Eric Shane Albright.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with the Revs. Keith Peters, Roger Porter and John “Buddy” Bryson officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home 7-9 tonight and other times at the home, 747 Cunningham Road, Thomasville, N.C. 27360.

Chad Martin Edwards of Holden Beach died Feb. 10, 2001, as the result of a snowboarding accident in Boone, N.C.
He was born in High Point on Dec. 14, 1978. He grew up in Wrightsville Beach and attended Wrightsville Beach Elementary School, Noble Middle School and graduated from Laney High School. He spent three years at Caldwell Community College in Boone, N.C. and was a snowboard instructor at Ski Beech. He was currently attending the School of Communication Arts in Raleigh. He enjoyed skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and was an accomplished artist. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chris Edwards, by his maternal grandparents, Henry and Lorine Kennedy of High Point, and his paternal grandfather, Charles Edwards of High Point.
Surviving are his mother, Kay Kennedy Zimmerman of Holden Beach; his father, Martin Dean Edwards of High Point; his paternal grandmother, Joyce Edwards of High Point; special family friends, Candace and Billy Buczinsky; his faithful friend “Grady”; and a family of many friends.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington, with a memorial service to follow at the Public Beach Access at Dune Ridge on Wrightsville Beach at 3 p.m. Pallbearers will be Michael Salling, Josh Miller, Jason McKinney, Todd Leadman, Joel Motarozzo and Chad Pierce. The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, N.C.
